  guys, you do know that the 1up reviewer,
  Giancarlo Varanini is not a new guy, little guy or a “nobody”. He worked ongamespot, OPM and gamespy right? you coudl have at least googled the guys name.

  He’s new to the 1up review crew and hasn’t been doing video game reviews for quite sometime… maybe you should use google yourself… lol…

  lono, they cleared this up on 1up yours on friday. He’s the former news editor for Official Playstation Magazine. He is by no means new to ziff or 1up

  I heard the podcast, personally, I found his defense of his review and his “knowledge” of the game to be laughable. He was horrible, didn’t know jack and I found him grating on the show. The fact that he’s been doing this for some time makes his “by-the-numbers” review of Too Human stick out like an even bigger sore thumb and an example of what’s wrong with video game reviews.

  You’re not helping his case…

  I reckon Lono is getting displeased with you doubting his researching ability… He may just drop the F bomb on your heads again. Be Ye Warned, trolls.

  To caveat on that, I love the F word, greatest word ever. I use it around small children and puppies. I was just pointing out Dave’s little snafu, not Lono’s ninja like ability to sneak it in.

  I don’t think pointing out the fact that someone who’s worked somewhere for 7-8 years is not a new guy is trolling. The world is not flat and gravity exists would it be trolling to have that pointed out? I personally couldn’t care less about about too human or the review itself. If you can’t take the fact that you got something wrong thats your problem but don’t shoot the messenger.

  you guys (and not you lono specifically) ask if it is a 1up review. It is. Is it farmed out to a “nobody”? it is not. The guy is not a freelancer. Seriously, the first link on google has his blog post and shows he’s a 1up editor. Its not “a 3rd party” handling the review.

  That segment where you speculate who this guy is is funny for all the wrong reasons.

  He is fairly new to 1up though, minus. My point is that the review itself was amateurish and that they didn’t have any of the more established guys there review it, just rubs me the wrong way.

  The fact that they had to trot this guy out on to the podcast to clean up his mess and play spin control speaks volumes.

  The 1up review is THE LOWEST review on metacritic, last time I checked… That also speaks volumes…

  Lono, what part of 7 years as an editor makes him new? I could understand if this were some freelancer or someone’s first review but it isn’t. I don’t see what the problem is other than the fact that the guy lost his previous job when gametap closed its editorial side and he came back to 1up. It’s really odd that you are using that as something to criticize the review with.

  Minus, I said that he was NEW TO 1up.com… I hope the caps lock trick worked to drive it into your skull….

  He’s new to 1up. com. I don’t care how long he’s been in the “Business.” After pimping Dyack for two years and using his craziness/new game to increase the profile of their show, they sent out the “new guy” to do the review.

  Ugh… I’m done talking in circles on this one…

  actually lets spell this out really simply.
  guy is an editor from official playstation magazine. OPM is part of 1up. He had worked for 1up for years. having worked for 1up as an editor for years he is not a new guy.

  I had no idea who the guy was either but again, if you actually google his name you would see the following on the first link.

  2. he has blog posts talking about OPM magazine deadlines going back to 2004

  seriously its really not that hard. Other than my first post where i mention Gamespy and Gamespot. I have only been talking about 1up. I havent even used the word “Business”. It seems you are angry about the review and use this new guy label as your strawman.

  I just wanted to say that I *really* liked Dave’s “Take Us Out”. Definitely the best one yet.
