What happened to the martini song at the end? It was the best part of the show.

I don’t know, maybe we should ask you why Fatal1ty looks like your son.

    • 10 Doc // Aug 11, 2008 at 10:55 am

You should know… you’re the one who made the podcast. Maybe Martini Time got mailed at the new post office as well.

MT and the plate are probably holed up together in a Tijuana Bar wondering how they’re going to get home.

About everything you said about PA has applied to Fatal1ty for years. He’s been an arrogant prick. When he was on the podcast, he really wasn’t like that, so he has improved. That’s not the point though. E4All didn’t just say Fatal1ty would be there. They were acting like him coming was the second coming. PA was more of mocking that, and being a bit of a douche. It’s more like two douche’s picking on one douche. = P

Although Fatal1ty has been less douchey lately so I don’t have too much of a problem with him anymore. I’m not jealous, I would hate to have his job. Playing FPSs for a living is not what I want to do.

Frankly have to disagree with you entirely on the PA-Fatality business.

Frankly first as for them being assholes, listen to the PA podcast, read what they write on newsposts, listen to their work on Child’s Play, donations and general attitude.

I have never heard of anyone meeting them at a convention or other situation who found them to be anything other than friendly and charming. On the other hand, I have heard plenty of people who have talked about meeting Fatality, and found him to be a complete prick (Maybe he’s changed, but the number of people making similar statements tell me it’s likely he was a prick at some point)

Second, they weren’t even necessarily mocking Fatality, they were mocking the press release that “Fatality will be here”. Frankly, they’re spot on there. Competetive gamers, even the best of them, should be no selling point for a gaming convention not specifically based around competetive gaming. I consider it a sad state of affairs that someone believes that is the case. Competetive gamers are a byproduct of gaming, leave the advertising to the games, and the people who make them, they’re the ones that matter.

In much the same way as an amateur reviewer may meet a developer and find him friendly, then feel bad about criticising his game, do not fall into the trap of defending Fatality from professional criticism, merely because he’s privately a friend.

Finally as to Penny Arcade as an entitity, I will promise you now that you will find no organization of that size involved in the gaming industry that has such a strict set of ethics in regard to adverstising, reviewing (Both positive and negative) and business practise in general.

Look, perhaps this is all subjective anyway, and perhaps I just rambled excessively for no purpose (Wouldn’t be the first time). Gabe and Tycho are big boys at that, they can defend themselves. Simply that while I am a Sarcastic Gamer fan, found your stance on this matter to be flat out wrong.

@DM: Well, you’re entitled to your opinion and we’ll just have to agree to disagree…

    • 14 TempleDog // Aug 12, 2008 at 12:32 pm

Oh, fer the love of…the PA guys weren’t slamming Fatality, they were making fun of the fact that E for All was making such a big flippin’ deal about ONE DUDE showing up. It was about E for All’s seeming desperation for any kind of relevance or attention that they would make a huge fanfare about one pro gamer showing up. Irony…you do remember irony, neh?

    • 15 DM // Aug 13, 2008 at 1:07 am

      @Lono.

Fair enough. Just, look into Penny Arcade more closely before you next comment on them (If you have done so previously, then I apologise for my assumption).

Remember that they are just a hugely successful version of what Sarcastic gamer is, and what every community site aims to be. The Penny Arcade entity is made up of people like yourselves, who satire, make jabs, and perhaps can come across to newcomers as having superiority complex, but that is just because they’ve developed a kind of culture among their readers over the years.

Just seemed a little harsh to leap in with the negative commentary, when they have said nothing harsher about anyone than Sarcastic Gamer has said about others. The only difference in this case is that Penny Arcade has PAX and a much larger audience base (Which I’m sure SG has the potential to gain in time, I don’t for a second believe this is a matter of envy) so their words are more closely listened to and taken in a more professional context.

      Anyway, rambling again. Bugger it.

Also, distinctly embarrassed that I mispelled competitive twice in my previous post. Let us never speak of it again!
