At this point it’s common knowledge that the SIXAXIS was a big failure for Sony due to its lack of rumble support. However they thought they’d solved the problem when they released the DualShock 3 which had both motion sensing and rumble. However today Sony announced the NoShockZEROAXIS a controller with no rumble and no motion sensing. Find out all the details after the jump

After the limited success of the Wii, Sony have decided to remove all motion sensing support from the PS3 saying that ‘the current generation of consoles are not about motion sensing. The current gen is about empty controllers with no features’. I caught up with Mr Person, the head of Sony’s Electronic Entertainment Interaction Systems and Analysis division, to give a quick interview:

Me: Hello Mr Person. You said in your press release, and I quote, ‘Motion sensing is soooooo last year. Little to no features are what’s popular with today’s vibrant market’. Do you really think that makes any sense at all?

Mr Person: I’m afraid I cannot comment at this time

Me: Not even a little bit?

Mr Person: I’m afraid I cannot comment at this time

Me: Surely you should get some new PR staff?

Mr Person: I’m afraid I cannot comment at this time

Me: Ok fine, I get the idea. We’ve stopped the interview, you can speak normally now.

Mr Person: Phew! That’s a relief. It’s so boring saying ‘I’m afraid I cannot comment at this time’ over and over again. This new controller though… What are my superiors thinking? It complete rubbish, why would anyone believe this crap, the only reason we’ve made the NoShockZEROAXIS is because we lost the blueprints of the old controller and no one remembers how to manufacture it.

Me: Oh ok, that makes sense. Just one thing though: I never stopped the interview. Tricked you!

Mr Person: I’m afraid I cannot comment at this time

Me: But you just said-

Mr Person: I’m afraid I cannot comment at this time

Me: But-

Mr Person: I’m afraid I cannot comment at this time

So there you have it. The SIXAXIS and the DualShock 3 are now discontinued and have been replaced with the NoShockZEROAXIS. No games will be made with rumble or motion sensing support from today, so you cant even use your existing controllers. The NoShockZEROAXIS will hit store shelves in 6 minutes.

Tsk.
