Here’s another post fresh from the Sarcastic Gamer Community Blogs, this time from PillowFort. If you fancy getting onto the front page of Sarcastic Gamer, head on over to the forums, sign up for an account and get writing in your own personal blog. If it’s funny, written well enough, or just plain awesome, it might end up right here. Good job, PillowFort!
Given that there aren’t new releases until late August (Castle Crashers) or even later September (Force, Fallout) I’ve decided to approach creation of these posts a little differently and have them be not so much about current events, but take a more Dickensian route (and by that I mean the ghosts of Christmas past and future, not poverty, exploitation and subtle Anti-Semitism).
So! Today I think we’ll have a cheeky bit of a look at the future of games, or more accurately my own vision of the future of games and not necessarily the “real” vision of the future of games because we already know how that goes (Protip: Gritty grey and brown realism with lightbloom effects).
Check it out, after the jump.
Idea 1: A Hideo Kojima directed adaptation of Escape from New York
Ever seen this film? You probably should
Snake Pliskin was the biggest influence on Solid Snake (there are tons of references to this hidden within the metal gear series) and I know in my heart of hearts that if Kojima got this chance he’d jump into the project with a serious fervor and make a decent game out of it (I hope better than MGS4, which I wasn’t keen on for some reason, I am not entirely sure why), the other option would be a Rockstar Toronto version because of their work translating The Warriors (again, see this film) into game format. It wasn’t great game but it was exactly what I was looking for.
Also if they could get Kurt Russel on to voice Snake that’d be awesome.

Wow! That was a really good piece of writing. The tone was very well suited to the theme of the piece, and I found the progression of ideas to flow quite nicely, helped along by the able writing, and comic demeanor. lol after taking one too many English Lit. course I can’t help but analyze writing in this manner.
