Hello and welcome to the second edition of our new feature here on Sarcastic Gamer cleverly entitled ‘Sarcastic Gamer’s Weekly Wonder’. Each week I’ll be posting an interesting question about video games, so interesting in fact, that you’ll want to answer it. And answer it you shall - all you have to do is post your reply to the question in the comment box. Simple.
Hit the jump for the most interesting question you’ll find on the internet this week (well apart from that one thing with the…I’d rather not talk about it). It can only be one thing: Weekly Wonder #2.
For this week’s Weekly Wonder we want to know about you’re favorite developer. What is you’re favorite developer and why? Do you like the developer for nostalgic reasons or because they permanently pump out good games? Maybe you don’t have a favorite developer and think this is a stupid question in the first place. If so then you’re very rude, but please tell us about it! Have you been annoyed with any developers recently? Also who is your least favorite developer?
As usual put all your replies in the comments box.

I have to say the developer who’s games I always am looking forward to is Valve. Ever since I first played the original Half-Life when I was a kid, I’ve always anticipated their next game. They always put the right amount of work into the games so they end up being bundles of fun to play.

First Post Woot! I like Bungie and Rockstar. Why? Because it may take them awhile to put a game out, but they always deliver a ground-breaking experience. Bungie is very community oriented. Rockstar just makes bad-ass games.

This is easy…Insomniac Games. The company ships a quality title annually. Plus Insomniac’s games always have awesome weaponry (i.e. the Auger, Rift Inducer and R.Y.N.O).

Mine would have to be Valve and Double Fine. Double Fine has very funny writing, and while Psychonauts may not have gotten amazing sales, it was an amazing game. As for Valve, I can always count on them to make a great game.

@ Raptor Jesus
I was a big fan of Psychonauts as well. I am stoked for Brutal Legend. Have you seen the trailer for that game?

Hmm…I’d have to go with Ubisoft. Especially recently, they’ve been sending out titles that have been anywhere from decent to very, very good: Assassin’s Creed was excellent, I’m looking forward to a new Splinter Cell game as well as a new Beyond Good & Evil game and the new Prince of Persia game, Tom Clancy has yet to disappoint, and Raving Rabbids are a nice diversion to the more serious titles. Overall, a good mix, making them the best thing the French have put out in a long time.

I’m stuck with Valve, Bungie, and Take-Two. They’re the only developers that can make good games the right way, by nuturing each one with time, patience, and comedy. No corporate shadows and due dates here. Name one horrible game each of them has made. You Cant!

Hmm.. I’m not sure, But If I could pick 2 developers, I would say:
- Naughty Dog:
Because they practically started my interest for video games. My childhood was Crash Bandicoot, They always make quality games, and they have good humor (Daxter). I don’t know how many times I’ve played Jak 2 and 3 over and over. THAT’S quality games
- Square (Enix)
They have an interesting history, and is the people behind Final Fantasy, I can remember myself as a kid, I played them on a emulator, couldn’t understand English, but I still completed the games (talking ’bout the old ones, NES and SNES). Also, they made FFX, which is one of my all time favorite games, the good story, the scale of the game, huge amount of sidequests and so on. And they’re also one of the first to truly scratch the surface on the console’s possibilities.

I would have to say Square Enix is my fav developer as I am a big RPG fan and well who doesnt like Final Fantasy right! Also Insomniac and Naughty Dog are really starting to grab my attention with games like Uncharted and Resisance, So then my least fav developer would have to be THQ cause I have yet to play a game developed by them that I like.

I have to admit, I’m a SquEnix fanboy. I’ve played and beaten all of the Final Fantasies and became enthralled with the Kingdom Hearts games. I think XenoGears was just insanely awesome.
I would have to agree that THQ is kinda lame. As soon as I see the THQ logo, I get that chewing tin-foil feeling in my mouth.

I have to say Square Enix, only because Kingdom Hearts is my favorite series, but mainly Activision because the majority of games I own are from them.
My least favorite developer has to be THQ, with so much crap and shovel-ware, I still can’t believe that I have Conan

I don’t really have a favorite developer right now. But I do know that I am finding that a lot of the big developers are doing a piss poor attempt at a single player story just so they can work on a multiplayer game that would trump the best. Its really getting to me.

BioWare and Square-Enix for me. Neither company has ever released a poor game in my opinion (barring Final Fantasy X-2… the less said, the better on that one).
Square obviously has it’s Final Fantasy series to it’s credit along with classic games like Crono Trigger and more recently the Kingdom Hearts franchise. And they always manage to push a console to it’s very limit in terms of potential.
BioWare has been developing fantastic RPGs for years. From the Baldur’s Gate series to Knights Of The Old Republic.
Evidently I’m quite the RPG-whore, but there is another developer that deverses praise in the form of Insomniac. Ratchet & Clank is a hilarious and entertaining franchise and Resistance: FOM was easily the best PS3 title for a good year past it’s release. Plus, Resistance 2 is looking to be a CoD4/Halo competitor, which is something you can’t really say very often about a new FPS.
As for a hated developer… I’m going to go with EA simply because my girlfriend seems to ignore me far too often in favour of The Sims and it’s ten zillion expansions!
