Hmmm, I thought I got a curious spam e-mail about half an hour ago, subject T-E-L-E-C-O-R-R-E-S-P-O-N-D-E-N-C-E. I very nearly deleted it too, until I got a little peek inside.
Find out what I really received after the jump.
What I’d really received was the next stage in the Resistance 2 viral campaign, stretched across two websites titled Get A War Job and Project Abraham. For the uninitiated, you can read up on the first two updates here and here. So far we’ve seen a few viral videos featuring the Starbuck chick from Battlestar Galactica in an advanced US military research center, apparently dealing with the Chimera virus which decimated Europe in the original Resistance: Fall of Man.
The sister site, GetAWarJob.com, was thinly disguised as a US Army recruiting site (odd, since it was, y’know, the 1950s and they didn’t have the Internet back then, as far as I know) recruiting fresh troops for the fight against the ‘European influenza’ making its way across the Atlantic. Since signing up to the newsletter at the time of the last Project Abraham newspost, there had been no word from the site until now.
According to the Get A War Job e-mail update (purporting to be from a man on the inside, spying on the US Army) the ‘war department’ is lying to those signing up to fight against the European virus, preparing to send them into Europe to fight rather than have them stationed at the borders to fight the incoming threat. This would leave American shores entirely defenseless, allowing the Chimera to walk right in and completely dominate the country. The e-mail then encourages its recipient to ’search out Project Abraham’ to learn how the war department is trying to defend America.
As for the Project Abraham website itself, it’s had a bit of a facelift. The ‘Blackout’ page, once host to a letter about ‘clinical trials’ on various US soldiers (experiments to either reverse the Chimera virus or work on it and use it; the half-Chimeran Sentinel soldiers that appear in Resistance 2 suggest the latter) and a photo of various US Army soldiers smiling in the door of a cabin, with the outline of a Chimera brooding in the shadows of the cabin’s window.
For a complete deconstruction of what the site has to offer, head on over to page two.

…I hate virals, they’re so mysterious and hardly give any real info… But I’m still excited about R2
