Next Generation is reporting that Nintendo have confirmed an add-on for the Wii Remote, titled the Wii MotionPlus. The MotionPlus is said to promise more accurate movements (1:1 response when compared to a user’s input).
A bit more info after the jump.
The MotionPlus works in tandem with the Wiimote’s accelerometer and the Sensor Bar to allow extra motions to be considered while you waggle your controller around and to generally increase the accuracy of your movements. My guess is that it can detect where you are in the room and things along those lines, but I could be wrong.
The Wii MotionPlus add-on, which resembles a curved cuboid and continues the curved shape started by the Wiimote’s plastic protection jacket, will take up the connection usually used by the Nunchuk. Is it being phased out or does it mean wireless Nunchuks are on the way which’ll sync with the console by themselves?
This announcement comes just ahead of Nintendo’s E3 conference on Tuesday so you can expect some more details on the MotionPlus addon in the next day or so.

Strangely someone sent an E-Mail into the Game Scoop! podcast a few weeks ago wanting to know how to patent a device which would give the Wiimote 1:1 response.
Never used a Wii myself but is it really that innacurate that it needs an add on or could this be a sign that there’s going to be games/features coming which will require greater accuracy?

I don’t own a wii, but I’ve played it and it has minimal sensitivity. This is great, with something like this I could really see FPS games excelling on the platform. CoD:WaW will probibly be indicative of this.

This’ll give Wii a big edge. Remember that disappointment when you found out that Lego Star War’s light saber controls sucked? Now they can be improved. Remember how slow and clunky WarioWare’s controls were? Now they can be improved.
I’ve heard that they’ll be an additional hole for the Nunchuck to click into. I won’t be using it all that much, though, as I have 3 wireless nunchucks.
