I’ve just been watching Konami’s press event at E3 and during this conference the brand new game in the Silent Hill series, subtitled Homecoming, and I’ve got to say it looked like a must-buy with every minute that went by.
Hit the jump for more on this along with other Konami games, including the new Castlevania. And the other new Castlevania too…
Metal Gear Online confirmed for July 17th
First up, some solid release details about the Metal Gear Online Gene Expansion, which I detailed (and had a little whine about) a couple of days ago. It’s set for release on July the 17th, but it’s unknown whether this is a US date only or a general worldwide release. Since the servers are region-locked, I wouldn’t be surprised if Europe was made to wait a little longer. An MGO worldwide tournament is also being prepared for the Tokyo Games Show in October..meaning it’s not really much of a worldwide tournament. Since it’s happening in Japan. Which isn’t really worldwide.
Elebits (AKA The Token DS Title)
After the MGO news Konami announced a sequel to their Wii launch title Elebits (Eledees in some territories), a game which essentially involved playing hide and seek with a bunch of creatures made of electricity. It’s described as a “really good title”. I remain apathetic.

A Tale of Two Castlevanias
Koji Igarashi, Konami’s current series producer for Castlevania, took to the stage afterwards to announce that there was not one, but two brand new titles in the series on the way, at least. The two games are titled Castlevania: Judgement and Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, the former appearing on the Wii exclusively and the latter making itself known only on the DS.
Ecclesia was demonstrated by Igarashi first, resembling a true-to-its-roots, back-to-basics Castlevania platformer, looking pretty rich considering it’s in 2D (and, ahem, running on a DS). Judgement was revealed to be a straight-up 3D beat-’em-up fighter, despite Igarashi’s claims that it was a “3D versus action game”. Whatever. It’s typical fighting game fodder with energy bars, flashy impact effects and weapons. However, there’s a story to it too with a lot of single-playing bashing to be done..but I wasn’t quite blown off my feet. For series fans it’ll be a blast but it’s simply a solid beat-’em-up to me and nothing more.
Further Konami presser impressions await over the page!

The cover of “Spoonman” in “Rock Revolution” sounds atrocious. How do they ever expect to compete with “Rock Band” and “Guitar Hero.” This game is going to bomb like a new Eddie Murphy movie.
