CVG has somewhat validated what our source told us yesterday, that a new Halo game will be announced by Microsoft at E3. They did a bit of digging with their own sources and got the same answer we did, plus assurance that the new game would not include the beloved Master Chief. (Sort of a No-brainer)
Halo is one of the best selling game franchises in history, and it’s no wonder that Microsoft would be quite keen on expediting another installment to market. The reaction to the news is drawing mixed reactions from the gaming community.
Some are calling the notion of another Halo installment so soon after Halo 3 a mistake. Personally I think they’re missing the difference between “an announcement that a game is in development”, and “releasing a game”. They are far from the same thing.
Others, equally loyal to the franchise seem to be pretty excited by the prospect.
Do you think this announcement will be Halo 4? A Prequel? Peter Jackson’s entry into the foray?

While it can’t to halo wars that been announced if it is halo 4 YEAH!!”
why shouldn’t master chief be in it? He’s only drifting in space someone could find him – if they wanted him in bad enough.
He’s the face of Halo, unless this is Halo Wars, they’d be wrong to kill their “logo”.
And a special thank you to Loadingreadyrun.com for providing the “Start Another Fight” logo.
The Halocaust is real.
I think your source is right about Halo 4. But, Bungie is NOT making it; Microsoft Game Studios is.
Bungie story writer Frank O’Connor has even relocated to MGS to make sure that they keep a good story.
So, yeah, expect Halo 4 this E3. And Bungie’s new IP at PAX. It’s gonna be a good summer.
no real surprise, they simply can’t abandon a money machine… but I can- no sale!
MC is NOT drifting in space; he is falling towards the Dyson Sphere in which other Spartan-IIIs are stuck in at the end of Ghosts of Onyx. Not sure if that storyline is going to get wrapped up in a book (nothing’s been announced), but there’s a huge sequel hook that most overlooked.
Chewy I’m with you. I’ll be passing on pretty much any additional Halo games. While the first Halo was a borderline religious experience (mostly reffering to multiplayer), Halo2 and 3 weren’t really special. There’s probably something wrong with me but I’ve had the third game since release and have only beat it once (about 6 months after it came out), and I’ve only played the multiplayer maybe two or three times. It’s just not that great of a series anymore (IMO).
Halo and good Story???Muahahahahahaha
if u complete Halo 3 in legendary and watch the Ending u see MC and Cortana Crash land on a Planet…..That planet being that from Marathon Durundall. Where u play a Security Guard By the name of John (MC’s Name is John(aka spartan 117))…so its not really hard to suggest that theyr hyping there origional FPS by making it a Sequel to Halo…Bungie Did State That the Halo Story was a 3 Part Story (not including the books). and also stated they would also consider adding to the story another way…..this would be one of them….This is just a Suggestion…but the planet does look like the planet from the old durundal posters/artwork.
@Toshi oh yes Halo 2 was nothing special was it? Is that why it was the most played game until Gears came out and even then it surpassed gears after a while. If they released Halo 2 again with better graphical with the same physics and everything I would get it. Halo 2 was a masterpiece with no one to say otherwise. Or weren’t you one of the ones of had an original and played Halo 2.
@chewy gone evil. So it’s a money machine like Call Of Duty and those games are good and I want to see more Halo even if the chief isn’t in it may be a money machine but it’s a bloody good one. It might be like the Price of Persia now the main character gone they will introduce another one.
BTW I am not a Halo fanboy I hardly play Halo 3 and will bash it at any opportunity
Hmm, posted on friday… can you please write NON-fiction on the articles we are supposed to believe.. now I don’t know what to think.
@ paulmess7
If in doubt, always look for the tags below the story. Check for a “Fiction Friday” or “fake news” tag. That is usually a good way to differentiate.
im startin to see a lot of halo haters outthere. i rarely here anything good about halo because it didnt live up to the hype. it wasnt bungie who overhyped it. it was us who made bungie tread lightly and work there ass off for wut they did. and ya halo 4 will over do it as much of a halo fanboy as i am.
I want another Halo just because I want to tell people then they can tell me how gay halo is for a reason they never give. People say Halo 3 was overhyped, but for me it came out the way I thought it would. All the features they said it have were in there. They told people what forge was but for some reason some people beleived it was this super huge map editor. The fanboys overhyped it then complained that bungie didnt deliver. I dont know why people bash Halo for being Halo. Bungie said this is the game their making for the people that want to play it then people complain about it. If you want Call of Duty play Call of Duty, but don’t play Halo looking for it. I hope this game is Halo 4 that way I can play more Halo.
It would be awsome for Halo 4 to be official but makes me now that Bungie have parted from Microsoft, is it possilble for the next halo game to be on the PS3 aswell as 360?
Wow, hope you’re right. Just saw the post on kotaku.
@PlayingtheDream2612: Sorry, but no Halo PS3. Bungie may have left Microsoft, but Microsoft still owns the Halo trademark.
thanks for updating, Halo/E3, great.
