Pick a Guitar Hero, any Guitar Hero. In the track listing, there has to be at least one song you have never heard. To go along with those songs are artists, some of which have been sitting at home, collecting dust, just like their music.

Until now.

Guitar Hero made them cool again, after years of obscurity.

Who doesn’t look at pictures, or videos of 80’s rockers like Warrant and Poison and laugh? They looked ridiculous and just a little feminine with their tight leather pants and teased hair. Many an average Joe rocked the same head sash and leopard skin pants, back in the day, because it was “cool.” Then the 90’s came around, plaid came with Grunge Metal, and those fads went the way of the dodo and were banished by most of society. Not long after that so did music videos and music television.

Coincidence?

Fast forward to 2005, those same rockers are bald *cough Brett Michaels cough* and have their drug and alcohol problems behind them… for the most part. The Guitar Hero franchise emerged and rocked peoples faces off. Poison, Warrant, and other long forgotten bands to were complimenting immortals like The Who and Guns n Roses. Having been (re)introduced to these artists, players search for other bands from the period like Extreme and Whitesnake. Rockin’!

Now, a number of these bands have caught a second wind. RATT, Queensryche, and other bands in need for money and the spotlight are going on tour and having some success. Guitar Hero has done something that the Time Life corporation has been unable to do in its years of over charging for CD and DVD collections.

Thank you Guitar Hero for giving these guys a reason to rock again.
