There never really was any doubt that Sony’s God of War franchise would eventually make its way to the big screen. Hollywood loves making money off of an idea they don’t have to come up with themselves. So we knew it was going to happen, but who is going to actually make it? Will fans luck out like Microsoft’s Gears of War did with Legendary Pictures (they made 300 and The Dark Knight) or will they get some Uwe Boll type fool, looking to make a quick buck, fans be damned?

Remember how awesome X-Men: The Last Stand was? Remember when we finally got a director who actually understood the content and used the uber famous characters under his control to their full potential rather than have them do next to nothing? Yeah, me neither.
You guessed it, Brett Ratner, known for his work on the aforementioned X-men film (and Rush Hour) is in talks to take on God of War. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Talk about a sucker punch. Here we have have a man who had one of the largest collections of super powered badasses and pre-built storylines (not to mention life longs fans) and did nothing with them. Juggernaut knocks himself out on a wall? Rogue never gets any cool powers (other than crying when she touches someone)?
This is the man who may very well have the fate of the God of War films in his hands? I can just see Kratos pulling out a sword and then punching everyone! I’ll wait and see how good this movie is before I outright condemn it, but given how much I loathe Rattner’s previous PG-13 tripe (just like any other true Marvel fan did), the idea of him guiding the most brutal Spartan ever on the big screen is more than enough reason to start cursing Hollywood.

Ratner came in late and while he didn’t help, the movie was already doomed to begin with.
The real problem was the script, written by the anti-christ himself, Zak Penn. Look up his resume on IMDB, you’ll find some of the worst movies ever made. If he ever made a movie with Uwe Boll the sheer force of it’s mediocrity could rip the fabric of spacetime and cause the universe to collapse in on itself.

yeah, i think the xmen movies were entertaining, but overall pretty weak when it comes to staying true to the universe.
