Feminists ftw: Sony making changes to Fat Princess

July 25th, 2008 · 9 Comments

Some people seem to have nothing better to do than complain. Take for instance the recent feminist outcry over Sony’s “Fat Princess.” You know, that cute but yet incredibly violent PSN game that allows up to 32 players on two teams (16 each) to duke it out in an epic struggle to rescue a portly gal from the clutches of the opposing squad.

Well, rather than deal with a stampede of hundreds of angry, protesting women, Sony has decided to give “Fat Princess” a facelift.

Get all of the details after the jump.

Sony Computer Entertainment of America President Jack Tretton explains that the changes were made to ensure that no group or individual could possibly be offended.

“The game drew a lot of attention after our E3 media briefing,” Tretton said. “Unfortunately, not all of that attention was positive. Rather than face a public relations nightmare, we just decided to change the game.”

Tretton said the initial decision was to swap the large woman for a small bear cub. The game would have essentially worked the same way. However, instead of fattening a woman, players would feed a cub.

This idea was scrapped after Sony executives were reminded that PETA existed.

From there, according to Tretton, the company met with the developers, Darkstar Industries, to find the least offensive object possible.

“In the end, we all agreed it was best to go with a cow,” the SCEA boss said. “You’ll have to keep the other team from milking it, to keep it nice and fat.  It might not be as fun, but at least we won’t have to hear any more whining from a bunch of uppity feminists.”

Sony has settled on a new title:  Fat Cow.

In response, feminists worldwide let out a triumphant victory cry, and then quickly moved to see what awesome thing they could destroy next.

I think Sony’ve chosen that title just right. Got the best ring to it.

She´s pretty hot though for a fat chick. I used to be an anime otaku and I would totally hit it.

The reaction from feminists would be the same if the game was called ‘Skinny Bitch Princess’
