EA levels the playing field with All Play

July 14th, 2008 · 3 Comments

We just got a peek at a Wii-exclusive series of games from EA aimed at solving the eternal dilemna of gaming mismatches. Peter Moore introduced All Play a feature being built into numerous Wii titles by EA in the coming year. We watched as Peter Moore played Tiger Woods with an LPGA star whose name I forgot. Sorry, I am sure she’s like very famous and is deserving of my memory. Kill me.

Rather than just a simple difficulty adjustment, you can totally scale this time to make a golf match between a 4 year old and a 24 year old a near dead heat. Moore got the advantage of seeing his golf shot’s exact trajectory before he swung, and of not having to select a club. Our LPGA star had to pick her club, had zero trajectory assistance, and basically got hammered by Moore.

All Play seems to underscore a very visible theme at E3 so far this year. Making video games more approachable to newcomers while also catering to the ranks of the more seasoned gamer.

All-play will see its initial launch with the full spectrum of EA’s sports properties including Madden, Nba Live and more.
