You know you’re excited about a trip when you get to the airport about 3 hours before your flight, which is precisely what Dave and I did. Getting through airport security was a lot faster than I remember, although we anticipated being held up for a long time, with all of the audio and video recording equipment we were carrying. We brought 2 laptops, 3 mics (why 3 mics I have no idea, total overkill) a kickass video camera, 2 audio recorders (overkill again) 2 still cameras (ditto), plus headphones, miles of somewhat necessary cables all had to be put into the grey caddies, powered on, unzipped, and spread out. Still it only took a couple of minutes to get the green light from the security folks.
I think we’re both pretty geeked out about this trip. A year ago it would have been totally insane to think we’d have this chance to go to E3. Neither of us have a clue about what to expect. We know where to be and when, sort of, but outside that, we don’t have a clue. I don’t know if the mainstream gaming media will be welcoming, oblivious, or condescending about our presence there.
“Truth and Justice” from the SGC is going to pick us up at the airport, and Godfree’s flight is coming in about an hour after ours. We’re missing a Kotaku party tonight, not that we were invited, but other than that things will really get going on Monday, with the Microsoft Press conference.
Dave and I managed to secure credentials for every event at E3 with the exception of the Gears of War Party (No community sites allowed… Media only) and the Take Two press conference.
Personally I am looking forward to meeting Godfree in person, meeting Chris Paladino and Jeff Rubenstein from GamerscoreBlog and Sony Blog respectively, and playing Battlestations: Pacific. Beyond that I think the Fallout 3 experience ought to be pretty rad when we meet with Bethesda on Thursday.
Dave and I are going to Punk Godfree when we see him… Not sure exactly how just yet.
Our plane is about to board, it looks to be a sturdy craft made of metal. Just what we asked for on Southwest.com.
Sarcastic Gamer’s E3 coverage is made possible by the generous support of Sumolounge.com.

Just read this is getting me hyped up for E3, can’t imagine how stoked you and Dave are though
have a good trip…cool runnings !!
I double dare you to try and start an interview with a hug!
And about all the excess equipment, you can never be too prepared for something like this. You would be kicking yourself and possibly each other if the only camera you took failed
Yeah, I can’t wait for E3 to begin. It sucks that I have to go through my whole Monday though before being able to see the press conference. Stupid time difference. I want to wake up and then BAM! Press conference. Anyways, you guys do us all a favor and have the time of your lives.
And I don’t think announcing that you’re going to punk Godfree is the best way to go about it.
Have fun guys, so jealous right now, LOLZ
GO for the best coverage EVER
I am so jealous… I want to go to something like this some point in my life time… have a blast guys!
It was good meeting you guys – shame I had to run after 2 minutes.
we’re not done with you yet paladino
