Dead Rising is very much alive on Wii

Dead Rising lawsuits? Whatever, those are so not happening. Maybe. If they were happening then Famitsu, Japan’s biggest video game magazine (and probably one of the biggest in the world) wouldn’t have published a Dead Rising logo and a screenshot of protagonist Frank West wrassling with a zombie, a Wiimote prompt clearly visible on screen.

Hit the jump for a little more info.

Will Dead Rising Wii be a Japan-only exclusive? The only huge news that emerged from Capcom’s E3 presser yesterday was the confirmation of a Lost Planet movie, with this new announcement regulated to the pages of a Japanese gaming magazine, safe from prying Western eyes. Or it was anyway, until Kotaku got their hands on it. This could mean the game’s going to reach Far Eastern shores only, unless Capcom have decided to announce a Western release date sometime later this year.

Regardless, the feature pages in Famitsu apparently detail that the game will be a direct port of the 360 (as far as direct ports go from the 360 to the Wii..don’t expect it to be as good a transition as Resident Evil 4 was from Gamecube) with every character, playing area and gameplay feature intact. There’s not much else you can about the game except that, as there’s no word on any exclusive features save for extra Wiimote waggling.

The Kotaku page has no other information and I can’t read Japanese, so we’ll need to wait for more details to emerge or for Capcom to make some sort of official announcement with regards to an American and European release. What’s most surprising about Dead Rising Wii though is not the game’s existence..why weren’t Nintendo whoring this at their press conference? That would have made it worth watching!

Congrats to the Wii people, Dead Rising is a damn fun game. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed that DR2 will be announced at E3.
