New Playlists for Call of Duty 4.

There are a few different things I would like in Call of Duty 4. Whether it be new maps, weapons, ranks, or new game modes, there seems to be alot of ways the developers can expand this game almost infinitely. While it seems we’re still a good ways off from any new weapons or another map pack, it has recently surfaced that there are some playlist changes coming on the horizon. All I can say is “Boo-yah.”

Alright, that’s not all I can say. After the break, you can find all the information we have.

Our buddy fourzerotwo from Infinity Ward has let loose that Call of Duty 4 is going to be seeing some playlist additions sometime in the near future. While the ETA is still up in the air, I don’t think we’ll be waiting as long as we would for a map pack or a patch.

Here’s a rundown of the new playlists:

Bare-Bones Team Deathmatch – No perks, no air support. This is probably my favorite of the bunch. No more worrying about that guy having Juggernaut or Marytrdom. No helicopter taking you down as you sneak behind enemy lines. Just you, your opponents, and whatever weapon you bring to the fight. This will probably replace Ground War as my playlist of choice.

Hardcore Headquarters – Headquarters, only more.. hardcore. I haven’t played a whole lot of Headquarters in my day, but I’ve seen in my few games what people’s main complaints are. It’s a grenade-spam camp-fest inside the headquarters, and I think adding a Hardcore version of it will help that quite a bit. People won’t be so eager to toss 3 grenades in then run into the HQ with a suicide wish so their Martyrdom will drop if they know they’re about to wipe 5 of their teammates from the game.

Multi-Bomb Search & Destroy – Bombs for Everybody! This one is pretty straight forward and I think will be a welcome addition for fans of Search & Destroy. It’s the same game with the same rules, but everyone on the attacking team is given a bomb and a chance to arm it. This will make the game much more intense for the defenders, but it will also put an end to bomb-camping.

Hardcore Free-for-All – Bow-Chicka-Bow-Wow. It’s Free-for-All, only Hardcore. I think any fans of FFA or Hardcore modes are going to enjoy this one. In fact, I think this should’ve been in the playlist rotation since the beginning. I don’t play much FFA, but I have enjoyed a game or two of it. I think a Hardcore version will fit nicely in the CoD4 community.

So there you have it. Four more reasons to take Bad Company from your disc drive and put Call of Duty back in. I’m personally excited to see these changes hit the rotation, and it’s nice to know that Infinity Ward still cares about us. Even if they are perfectionists who can’t put anything out until it’s perfect. But at least it works when it does come out.
