Bungie tells us to “remain calm, obey posted limits”

Joystiq’s received a multitude of tipoffs about Bungie’s website receiving a bit of a makeover with regards to the imminent announcement of (what rumour would have us believe) the next game in the Halo series, or perhaps something else.

The grainy image on the site (available here) flashes on and off with various messages from “EXPECT DELAYS” to “KEEP IT CLEAN”, even asking visitors to “REMAIN CALM”. No idea what any of this means, but there’s even a countdown at the bottom left, ticking down the minutes, hours and days. As I type, there’s one day, 18 hours and 15 minutes to go, meaning it’ll be 3pm on Wednesday in the UK (but more importantly, around 8am or so in Los Angeles) when this super-secret project is finally revealed to the gaming press.

I’m not much of a player of the Halo series but the whole thing seems sort of..Halo-like, if you get what I mean. It looks like it belongs in the Halo universe so I’d put my money on this site being a countdown to the announcement of game number 4 in the series.

The site itself is still accessible through a link at the bottom of the page, with no clues given to what this new introductory page means. Still, it’s not long until we’ll find out. Speculations at the ready guys, 42 hours to go…

Could this be the counterattack of Sony?
But still, this will not be as huge at FFXIII goes 360. I feel the Halo-hype isn’t that big anymore, especially since Halo 3 weren’t that good.

No offense… but don’t be an idiot.

This is not Halo 4, or Halo anything for that matter. Bungie is DONE with making HALO games.

And, “Halo-like”? Everyone else seems to get more of a “Half-life” vibe from this.

Sorry, I just had to vent for a second.

whether you’re a halo fan or not, you have to admit that Bungie’s adeptness at creating a certain mystique around the Halo universe, as well their skill in aesthetic design along this storyline remains unparalleled.

That picture looks like a Marathon Terminal to me.
Yes, I’m calling it: Marathon 4 with the engines they used for Halo 3.Time to introduce the new trilogy of Marathon, I think. And the GP will think it as something new.

the timer is set to hit zero at 07:07:07 AM Pacific which is the timezone E3 is in and Bungie Studios. 7 is bungie’s number hence Bungie Day being 7/7/(insert year).

Yeti probably has it right. I don’t expect anything short of a brand new IP from Bungie, and I couldn’t be more excited.

I’m so glad they’re done with the Halo BS.

I think I’m the only person hoping for One 2 someday. Sure, the story was static and the level design unrealistic, but the gameplay was fun (only played the PC version)

      Sry… meant “Oni 2″ I can’t type worth… anything today
