If you were paying any attention to anyone’s E3 coverage, Fallout 3 was near the top of everyone’s lists. The October 7th release isn’t too far off. So, if it’s on your list, it’s time to start saving your pennies, to see just how much Fallout you can handle.
According to Amazon.com, there will be three choices for every gamer to make when picking up this game.
Regular: You pay your $59.99 for your console version, or $49.99 for Windows. This is for poor folks like myself.
Collector’s Edition: Add $10 on to the previous option and you get a few goodies. In addition to the game, you get a Vault Boy bobble head, a making of DVD, a book on the art of Fallout 3, and a metal Vault lunch box. This is for fans of the franchise that don’t mind spending a little more to get some swag to remember this momentous occasion.
Amazon.com Exclusive Survival Edition: Get ready to take out a loan for this must-have piece of apocalyptic survival gear. It’s priced at $129.99 for consoles and $119.99 for Windows. This upgrade gets you all of the things from the Collector’s Edition, along with you’re own personal Pip Boy 3000, the wrist mounted device worn by our hero in the game. From what I can tell, it’s a clock. Fancy. This is for people that have way too much money that are constantly looking for cooler ways to tell the time.
Sorry guys, no cat helmet.
Marvel at the swag in all it’s glory! Actually, is it really swag if you pay for it?

All of these items are available for pre-order at Amazon.com How much Fallout 3 can your bank account handle?

My plan is to pay as little for this game as absolutely possible, be it on Xbox or PS3.
I love Fallout. LOVE IT!
I hate Bethesda. HATE THEM!
It’s quite a conundrum I’ve found myself in.

Why do you hate Bethesda Keith?

Argh.. one naughty word and you have to retype an entire book.
It starts with their willingness to release their game (Oblivion) on PS3 (Late) and then, regardless of the $60 pricetag, refuse to SUPPORT that game properly with necessary patches (which the other versions received I might add), leaving in game-ruining bugs which cripple the experience for anyone stupid enough to buy it (Me)
Then there’s the fact that they’re going to shoe-horn in a terrible first person view into a classic top down PC IP, which they have no right doing.
Lastly there is the exclusive DLC bull*. I have recently purchased an xbox, but I don’t take kindly to that exclusive DLC garbage. If you want to expand your audience, then give everyone the same experience or just tell them where to go from the start.

I’ll be waiting about a month until the hoards of people who finish the game and don’t want to replay it put it on Amazon. Hooray for $30 console games!
