We’ve got most, if not all, of the big Sony announcements on the front page for you already (aren’t we good), but there were lots of little announcements that aren’t quite deserving of their own dedicated article. Have a look at them after the jump.
Sony Announces New ‘Greatest Hits’ Range for $30
Sony has announced it’s ‘Greatest Hits’ range, a bunch of games that have been out for a while and are now being sold at the low low price of $30. Basically it’s the PS3’s version of the PS2’s Platinum range.
So far the list of included titles include:
- Motorstorm
- Resistance
- Warhawk
- Call of Duty 3
- Fight Night
- Need for Speed: Carbon
- Assassins Creed
- Rainbow 6 Vegas
- Oblivion
- Ninja Gaiden

New PS2 Bundle Announced
Nope, that’s not a typo. This is a new PS2 bundle, not PS3. The bundle will retail for $149 and will include Lego Batman and the Justice League movie, but there’s no sign of a release date just yet.
Sony put a lot of emphasis on the PS2 and confirmed that over 130 titles will be released for it in 2008 alone. Most of these will probably be shovelware, but some good titles were shown like Mercenaries 2, Yakuza 2 and The Force Unleashed.
New PSN Titles
Sony announced several new PSN titles at their conference, but little to nothing is know about them. The new titles were Fat Princess (my personal favourite purely because of the name), Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic, Crash Commando and Pain: Amusement Park.
Also shown was Flower, which is one of my most hyped games, despite nothing being known about it at all. It’s coming to PSN though, we just have no idea when.
New PSP Bundle for $199
Coming to stores in Q3/Q4 this year is a new PSP bundle which includes a Silver PSP, a free copy of Echochrome, National Treasure 2 (UMD or DVD?), a 1GB memory stick and Ratchet and Clank: Size matters. It’s a pretty nice bundle, but is it nice enough to tempt you to go for the plunge and get a PSP?
80GB PS3 for $399.99
Sony have announced that the 80GB PS3 will be retailing for $399.99 and will have the functionality of the 40GB PS3. Um…that’s all for that one.
Done and done. That’s all the minor news that broke during Sony’s E3 Presser. It’s been a pleasure bringing it to you.

Don’t know how the Platinum games will be priced in the UK but not all that impressed. You can already pick up half those games for £15 on eBay so unless they go below that (which is unlikely since PS2 Platinum was £20), it’s not really worth it.
Crash Commando looked really interested so I’m looking forwards to finding out more. It had moments that were a little Bionic Commando like, but then something would happen which would make you think otherwise.
Pretty interested in Rag Doll Kung Fu too, had that great Little Big Planet look to it.
All the PSN games looked good anyway and I too am really hyped about Flower. flOw was so simple and yet really immersive (with a ridiculously gorgeous soundtrack), so I don’t see how the developers could go wrong.

Is it just me or is it a bit sad that out of the games listed as being released as greatest hits only 3 are console exclusives? They touted that they have some big franchises working for them, but the don’t seem to be holding on to them very well as it seems more and more companies are doing multi system releases. Here’s to hoping Sony figures it out.
