A “Cuil” change? Sort of.

A couple of former Googlers parted ways with the search giant in 2006 to create their own new search engine, and today they took to the open seas with “Cuil” (pronounced “cool”). According to the company, Cuil searches more than three times more web pages than Google, and displays the results in a much more attractive manner.

I took Cuil our for a spin and naturally, used the terms “sarcastic gamer” (in quotes).

The results after the jump.

Too “Cuil” for the room?

Cuil’s welcome screen came up in an instant, though the color scheme seems a reverse of Google’s with a black background and the search term box about 2/3 of the way down the page. I didn’t immediately see it. Perhaps it wouldn’t hurt to skip the “we’re so hip we don’t need the first 66% of our site” to put the box up front and center. Then again maybe I’m just not “Cuil” enough to get it.

The real meat of the changes that Cuil brings, up next. Read on.
