As we reported on last week, a source very close to the Splinter Cell: Conviction project told us that Michael Ironside would not be back as Sam Fisher, marking the first change ever for the famous gun-toting agent.
This “rumor” took another small step towards getting its fact wings this morning as our source tells us, the issue at hand was an age-old problem. According to our source…
“He was getting to way too egotistical about the project and extremely difficult to work
with.”“He was also asking for a sh*t load of money..”
“He pretty much tied his own noose”
I think its also important to note that Ubisoft has STILL not answered any requests for comment on this.
Not from us.
Not from Joystiq.
Not from from X3F.
So, Splinter Cell fans, get ready for a new Sam Fisher. Hopefully it’s someone with zero sense of self worth, and who works for peanuts.
Maybe Ubisoft can save a TON of money and just use text bubbles and bing-bing sounds whenever Fisher talks.
You know, since they’re in to saving money on staple characters.

They should make him talk like the sims. That would be so funny, they could call him Sim Fisher
who cares…He’s not as important as David hayter was to solid snake…I mean..there was nothing destinctive about Ironside’s voice in Splinter Cell…I’m sure they can find an even better voice actor do do the job right/better
@Joe joe: This is ubisoft we are talking about, it wouldn’t surprise me if they just brought in some cheap asshole who will put nothing into the role.
Ironside made Splinter Cell what it is, if he is really gone then the series will suffer.
Aww, I loved Ironside as Sam. But the series has been suffering in general lately. Double Agent just wasn’t as stealthy, and I really miss that. Oh well, perhaps Splinter Cell: Emo Assassin’s Creed will be good.
Maybe give him no room for dialogue and transform his into a silent character, like Gordon Freeman.
Might have an impact for a lot of people but, personally, I’ve played all those games in french and the guy doing Fisher’s voice in french is very accurate. He has this low, confident and calm voice you expect from a guy like Sam. So if he’s still there for the next game, I won’t see any difference…
Anyway, if the game’s good, Fisher’s voice won’t matter too much (unless they find someone who speaks like Mickey Mouse or Bart Simpson to replace Ironside).
There are italian, spanish, french, dutch and german voice talents too. Unlike MGS4. Always been
Any character with an accent other than an American one would blow the whole series for me. First off, hes an american agent. Second… french? No matter how deep and sam-ish the voice is, its still french. I would cringe every time I heard him talk. Stick with Ironside and pay him more, I say.
I was anticipating the release of Splinter Cell: Conviction forever and now I’m reading that there may or may not be a voice change to the main friggen character voice, Sam Fisher. I mean what the shiite????? Michael Ironside made Sam Fisher what he is today and if Ubisoft really intends on getting someone else to play Sam I will be so SORELY pissed. I will NOT BUY CONVICTION.
I can only hope it is not Michael Ironside’s ego that cause the rift, but rather the greed of his agent
