MGS4 Install Recommendations from a fan, tired of waiting…

June 16th, 2008 · 10 Comments

I have had a chance to play the myth, the man and the legend that is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of The Patriots. I love it. It’s beautiful, fun, but not with out it’s flaws. First on my list, are the installs, which needs a little work. There’s more than one and they’re not quick…

Find out what my complaint is before you start with the Xbot hate.

I have to admit the first time I popped my disc into my PS3, I thought it was cool to see Snake smoking a cigarette. It was really nice to see what I had to look forward to during my game play experience while I waited. After I had to sit through the same thing a second time, I was ready for him to do something else. Like clean his gun, fill out an AARP application, or trim his mustache with his knife.

That was until I met a little white Monkey with an addiction to soda and cigarettes. I figured that maybe the install screen should be filled with little caffeine fueled Monkey hijinx. It seemed like a good idea at the time.

In the following act I met the beautiful Naomi Hunter aka Dr. Cleavage, who doesn’t seem to know that shirt buttons don’t stop half way up. Not that I’m complaining. When I had to see Snake again at the next install screen (there’s installing between each act) I started to wonder why she wasn’t the one we were watching. Sexist I know, but with all the blatant down blouse shots, and L1 up-skirt action, how can I not hope for that?

I’m just looking for a little more variety. Tell me who would you would rather see in your cut scenes.

I personally enjoyed all of the little notices that came up, including the smoking warning ones.

Even better was the one that came up telling me that it was after 1am, and that if I wasn’t going to go to sleep I should at least get up and do some stretches.

Multiple installs, no wonder Konami didn’t want anyone talking about it.

Haha a Dr.Cleavage install screen would be awesome *drools*.

My favourite notice is ‘put all rubbish in the bin’ lol classic Kojima humor.

Don’t forget the re-installs when you want to re-play a chapter

Well the second time only took 3 minutes instead of 8, and i see you put them to good use…

To come and whine about it… great stuff.. good for you… you and lono should go and take a windy walk, have some tea and talk about how terrible mgs4 is.. maybe how much hideo should copy bungie in order to make a perfect game..

but hey… 3 minutes is 3 minutes.. lucky you you have a website to come and whine about it..

Who honestly has nothing else to do but play video games constantly anyways… Some say they rather disc change which probably does save a minute or two but I’d rather have one disc. Remember the ff games on ps1? So many of my friends would end up breaking or scratching their disc 2 or some crap. This way feels safer and possibly more environmentally friendly? It does sound like they could’ve masked the installations better or used a wider variety of video for the hardcore gamers who just want to straight game or replay the game 4 times in one week.

      @FrankyFourFingers
When have they ever said that this game is terrible, oh yeah, never. Maybe you should read articles before commenting on them, it would help on not making yourself look like such a dumbass. And if you really read their articles and/or listen to their podcast, you would know that they think Call of Duty 4 is better than Halo. Nice try.

Excellent ideas. I’m fully in support of staring at Dr. Hunter during installs. Problem is, I would have been all sleepy afterward… :P
