A Kotaku reader present at Jackhole’s disciplinary hearing in Florida today reported that the lawyer stormed out of his own hearing, remarking that the judge “did not have the authority to hear his case.”
The case of Thompson versus the Florida Bar (the state-wide organisation of lawyers and attorneys) looks set to end in favor of disbarring Jackhole, as they have recommended an “enhanced disbarment,” or double secret probation in lawyer speak… This “enhanced disbarment” would effectively ban him from practicing law for the next ten years.
More info follows on the link below…
After Thompson stormed out, the case proceeded without him, undoubtedly playing against his hopes for victory, as the Bar asked for their recommendation to be considered. The official verdict will be revealed when the judge releases her report by the beginning of September.
In typical Jack Thompson style, he went on to slate the judge’s suitability and experience in a very large, very silly objection report, even threatening to have her removed from her own position. Of course, being Jack Thompson, his threats are as void and soulless as your average white goods dishwasher; but even the dishwasher would have the intelligence to avoid threatening the person responsible for coordinating your entire case.
The report continues with Bible quotes, unnecessary xenophobic comments (“English is the greatest of all languages”) and unnecessary references to the Democrat nominee race and Senators Clinton and Obama, purely because they mentioned Grand Theft Auto for ooh, a couple of minutes and then moved onto genuinely pressing matters in the world. The entire melodramatic piece (in a court, of all places, where such drama is unnecessary) ends with Thompson’s declaration that he is to appear in the “Freedom Festival” in Utah, and I quote that Thompson believes there is a “blessing that awaits me, by God’s mercy and grace, in middle America a month from this day”.
Oh dear. It’s been nice knowing you, Jack.

I knew this day would come…but, sob, I promised myself I wouldn’t cry!
Take that you SOB!
It aint over by a long shot. He’s got all kinds of federal cases pending against the judge in the case and all that… I’m not saying he’d win, but we’re not rid of him yet.
Oh and by the way, when are we as gamers, going to just stop talking about him? Why do we give crap about this guy? He’s like he Paris Hilton of the gaming world…. Utterly reprehensible yet followed around by sites like Kotaku and Joystiq like paparazzi on Sunset Blvd…
Stop giving him coverage. Please.
Poor jack.
I doubt this is the end of him for 10 years, he’ll break the law a few times by doin what he does best and then get thrown in prison for a bit.
@ Lono
yea i was pretty sure we were done with Jackhole, actually wasn’t it said in a podcast?
but as i said before, Rockstar is going to lose its number one sales Rep. because of this case
(funny, my captcha says “society actress”)
Good riddance… he makes us Christians look bad.
We shouldn’t pay attention when he is trying to speak out about something or when make an arse of himself in some other way, but there’s no harm in reporting his setbacks. And since he is a lawyer (for now) he could potentially do real damage if he ever wins a case. Paris Hilton may be a sign of just how pathetic our culture can be, but she isn’t hurting anyone but herself. Well, and anyone around her who isn’t wearing a biohazard suit.
And keep in mind, despite being an idiot, he still gets positive attention from some other areas of the media. My aunt cited him in a discussion recently, totally unaware of his status as a walking talking advertisement for anti-psychotic medications.
(my recaptcha: then behave)
@boring supreez
Couldn’t agree more.
I don’t have a problem talking about anything that has to do with his demise.
It’s his crusades that I’d like to stay away from.
Another great piece Yamster
I have one problem with this. Even if he is disbarred, that won’t stop him from campaigning against video games. Infact, it may even give him some publicity which he wants.
Sure he won’t be able to act as an attorney, but practically every lawsuit he files is a failure anyway, but he could easily use this to get publicity to continue his campaign against video games.
Well, I suppose it isn’t necessarily all bad thing. At least rockstar will still be getting free publicity
.
Apparently he said that he was being unfairly treated for his religion…
what?
Yes, Jack, that’s the reason nobody likes you. Your religion. WTF!
Jackhole isn’t welcome in Utah. We’ll make sure he gets the memo.
@ Lono: If there’s one thing that ALL gamers can agree upon, it’s their hatred of Mr. Thompson.
Hatred crosses every boundary!
