Ben Cousins, the executive producer at DICE has confirmed that his studio is working on not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, not 6, but 5 Battlefield titles.
‘Where are the details?’ I hear you cry. Tsk tsk, you should know this by now: they’re after the jump. Why not hit it?
Well you hit the jump and made it to the other side. Congrats.
Now, 5 Battlefield titles may sound like an auful lot, but we already know what some of these Battlefield titles are. One of them is Battlefield: Bad Company, which most of the people on this website will be very familiar with, and another is Battlefield Heroes, the previously announced free Battlefield game, targeted at casual gamers. Y’know? The game that looks a bit like Team Fortress 2 set in WWII?
Those are the two games we knew about. Here are another two that we DIDN’T know about. According to Mr Cousins, DICE is also working on a traditional Battlefield game aimed at the consoles - basically the next sequel, as well as a joint effort game between DICE and Neowiz specifically targeted at the Korean market.
Yes, they have a MARKET.
This leaves us with the mysterious fifth title. I’m thinking it’s some sort of snooker game with rocket launchers. Wow, that would be awesome. On a realistic note, it could be some sort of RTS endeavour or maybe a traditional PC exclusive title.
Either way it’s nice to see DICE keeping busy. I don’t know why it’s nice to see that, but it is. Bad Company is out this Friday (in the UK) and Battlefield Heroes is out this Summer.

My money on the 5th title is Battlefield 3 for the PC. Using the frostbite engine. The battlefield games have been and continue to be very successful on the PC so it makes sense that they will go there.

That could be. What I would love to see, though, is a console version of 2142 or a 2142-esque game. Just a futuristic Battlefield title for 360 in general would be awesome!
