Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, On Tour and World Tour not enough for you? Like Metallica? Third rhetorical question? If the answer to all those is ‘yes’ then you should probably buy some Metallica CDs. Alternatively you could pick up Guitar hero: Metallica coming Q1 2009. Hit the jump for the full story.
Ok, when I said ‘for the full story’ I kind of tricked you. There is no full story, the only details we know are all in the intro. Still I’ll do my duty and ramble on for as long as I can…as usual.
Expert analyst Edward Woo uncovered this bite size piece of news while sifting through an Activision SEC filing. The game is due to be released in Activision’s first fiscal quarter of 2009, which means any time before March 31st 2009. However, World Tour is due out this fall/holiday so it’s unlikely that Metallica will come out before next Spring.
Still, the question remains: will Metallica have the drums, guitar and microphone of ‘World Tour’? or will it just be guitar? Maybe it will only be released as a Solus package, and you’ll have to buy the guitar separately. The possibilities are literally endless. Well not endless, but you know what I mean.
Also what does this mean for the future of Guitar Hero? Will we be bombarded with a flood of band specific titles, or will this be the last one? The latter option seems fairly unlikely to me given the amount of money these games make, but I must say that I get more bored with the Guitar Hero franchise every time they announce a new version.
Either way you’ll be playing a whole lot of Metallica songs come Q1 2009, should you so choose to purchase the game.

“Moooo” - so dictates Activision’s new cash cow.

Custom soundtracks Activision, that’s all we want. Of course, that would completely kill their scheme to bleed all of us dry.

I’m a big Metallica fan as well as a maintaining GH fan.. but I dont know about this one. I mean.. ‘One’ is the most infuriatingly hard song on the setlist of GH3.. so this to me, means they’re going to make a game that is virtually impossible on Hard or Expert.
I have a feeling this will be the seemingly obligatory spin off for World Tour though. With Lars being the outspoken twit he is, GH Metallica would have to be Drum friendly.

I hope that they don’t use anything made after 1991…

And spending a whole lot of money of DLC too as, like with GH: A, I’m guessing DLC purchased on GH3 won’t be compatible.
Think I’ll pass

Oh God, GH should not go down this road, soon we will see “Guitar Hero : Rick Astley”

@crashcrazy: SingStar’s already done it, that’s more than enough Astley for all of us.
