Cagney dated, Paradise gets better next month

Burnout Paradise is one of my favorite games on the 360, even though it hasn’t seen the inside of my disc drive for quite a while. It looks like that will change pretty soon, as Criterion Games announced this morning that their third content patch, Cagney, is set to release in a month.

Follow the jump for all the information.

Cagney will hit Xbox Live and the PSN on Thursday, July 10th. The best part? It will be free. I find it amazing that such a huge content update is being released for free while small things like Horse Armor cost us money still. Oh well, you can’t win them all. Here’s a rundown of what this update will bring:

3 New Freeburn Modes

  • Road Rage: 4v4 team event. Two teams race through the city. One team must race through a series of checkpoints while the other team is charged with stopping them by any means possible. This is my favorite mode from Revenge, so I’m excited to see it come to Paradise.
  • Stunt Run: Paradise brought Stunt Run to the lineup of Burnout events, and now it’s getting the online multiplayer treatment. Every player goes at it simultaneously, and it looks like slamming into your rivals will give you multipliers while taking points from them. This should be a good bit of fun.
  • Marked Man: One player is randomly selected and must race through the city to a set goal. The other players in the game have to take him down. That’s enough explanation, this should be a hell of alot of fun.

That’s the major changes, but the update will also bring 70 new freeburn challenges, new vehicles, custom soundtrack support for the PS3, and a plethora of bug fixes.

I’m definitely excited for Cagney, and I’m sure that the new freeburn modes will be enough to keep me playing for a good while.

It’s one of those games that I’ve wanted but never got around to actually buying. Think I’ll pick it up just before this update.

It’s such a good game, can’t wait until we get bikes and a new island as well.
