Wii not so Fit

With the introduction of the Wii almost a year and half ago, came a new way of gaming. An interaction that people have never brought into their house. Your movement in the real world brought movement to the screen. Nintendo finally figured out how to translate that movement from playing fun games and getting exercise, to just straight exercise. Welcome to the Wii Fit.

I received an early copy of Wii Fit and here is my review. (Full Disclosure: I am fat.)

Let the hilarity ensue, after the break.

My first impression wasn’t a good one. Eager to loose weight, I ripped open the box. but something caught my eye. A weight limit! Apparently you have to weigh less then 330lbs to ride this ride. Ok, so now the people that really need it, can’t even use it? Thank god I only weigh 295.

After I opened the box, I slid the nice platform out and placed it on the floor. I noticed something else in the box. Socks. Socks? Why would I need socks when everyone on the box is barefoot? Not like it even mattered, because they would only fit on a 3 year old, but only if that 3 year old weighed less then 330lbs…

Check out the pic below. And yes, that is my foot. Size 15. I feel a discrimination law suit in the air.

Once you get the whole thing hooked up, you have to create a Mii if you don’t already have one. So I took the 20 min. and created my Mii. Looks kinda like me, if I was 2 inches tall and had a giant head. Finally, I was ready for some gamercise!

Except…

Once the Mii is created you can’t just jump in and lose weight. The Wii needs to get some information from you. Like height, weight, age, and so on.

Then the real fun begins. The BMI (Body Mass Index) is shown. For those who have low self esteem you might not want to get this game. The game just didn’t tell me I was over weight… or tell me that I needed to loose a few.

It created a bar graph.

At bottom was below the average BMI, the middle was normal, and at the top was Obese. Not only did my bar reach the very top…. It turned my Mii in to a fat slob.

I am not lying.

It made my Mii obese to represent me. I was shocked. Now all I can think about is liposuction or a stomach stapling.

The brutality continues… on the next page.
