GTA IV is making me crazy?

May 7th, 2008 · 6 Comments

Ever since the release of Grand Theft Auto 4, I’ve had a problem. You see, I have all these wonderful games to play: Call of Duty 4, Burnout Paradise, Mass Effect.. But all I want to play is GTA IV. Then when I do go into GTA IV, instead of wanting to work through the story, or further my rank online, all I want to do is blow crap up in free mode.

I think I may be losing my mind.

With the exception of the Grand Theft Auto series, I like some sort of goal in my video game. In Call of Duty 4, there’s always a constant goal, whether it be domination, deathmatch, or headquarters. with Grand Theft Auto, I’ve always just enjoyed causing complete and utter mayhem and seeing how long I could survive. Usually, it wasn’t very long.

Up until this latest release, I’d always put in plenty of weapon codes, cheat my way into some body armor, and spawn myself an awesome ride.. or a tank. But with GTA IV, it’s much more fun to hop into a room with 7 to 15 other guys and just cause catastrophes like it was some sort of social get-together. Running a pedestrian over 3 times is fun. Doing it to your best online friend is a blast.

So when I got an invite to play Call of Duty 4 last night with a fellow Call of Duty 4 player, Tazdad, I was a little hesitant. Liberty City was waiting for me. I knew I had to keep my Call of Duty skills nice and sharp for the upcoming match (and yes, I’m still the Grim Reaper of Death in CoD4.) but the sociopath inside of me wanted to run down pedestrians and shoot my online friends in the face with an RPG, or get into some unsuspecting player’s helicopter only to cook a grenade just a second too long.

I don’t know if I’ve ever wished this before, but I hope the lure of Grand Theft Auto wears off soon. With the upcoming summer releases, and Fall just mere months away, I hope I’m not feeling the pull of Liberty City when I put my copy of The Force Unleashed into my console. I can only hope…

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I just got an invite to GTA IV.

;) That’s a new lesson, though, the same one I learned with the poll. Check all websites and now, all blogs, to make sure your story hasn’t been done :(

I hope it wears off simply because my parents have totally forbid the game and I have freakin’ NO ONE to play with.

my parents would let me get it, but I’m afraid they might think less of my character and maturity for it…

That’s why I won’t risk it! My status is more important!

Plus, um, GTA IV doesn’t have “Forge”, does it? ;)
