Great job guys, liking the show and I hardly play my PS3 but it is nice to hear more about it.
I just want to through it out there (and might get bashed for this but…) I keep hearing people say that you pay a monthly fee for Live, unless you go and buy the monthly subscription cards it is a yearly fee and is a price of a game. 60 bucks is not bad seeing as you would spend that same amount on a game as bad as iron man or other bad games.
Also, I’m not big on the achievements (I do love them though). It is a nice fuzzy feeling to see it pop up and if I wouldn’t have had the 360 from the start and started “collecting” achievements from day one, I wouldn’t care too much about them either. I know the gamerscore doesn’t mean anything but when I see I have 1000 of 1000 gamerpoints on a game I feel that I have completed the game, but that’s just me.
Sorry this is so long, just wanted to comment on what I heard. Like I said, trying to get more into the PS3 and you guys are helping!

^ If you dig achievements and all that, and it is fun to you, that’s really all that matters. I’m not a fan of them, but I can see the attraction.
As far as monthly fee vs. a one year drop, your right it is not a lot of money. I just don’t see any correlation between payments and service. Since I already drop money on any number of things, I refuse to pay for anything unless I see the benefit.

I bought my live subscription for 35 bucks for 13 months of service. Buy.com and other online retailers regularly have sales on these…
Frowny face to anyone that says live costs too much, especially if that someone spent 600 bucks on a game console.

Great show. I am a Farenheit believer. Faranheit will come back and win the temperature war.

@Lono: I only “value” Xbox Live Gold for their online multiplayer… which I never use. So yeah, to me… $50/year is TOO MUCH. But I’m not trying to imply that it’s too much for others… but if _I_ ever say I feel it’s crappy they force you to pay for early access to demos, online multiplayer, TrueSkill matchmaking, and being able to send PMs from Xbox.com, I’m absolutely serious… I think $50 a year for those abilities is a waste of _my_ money.

@Rothbart: How bout 35 bucks for 13 months? That’s $3.84 dollars per month.
Cheapskates.

Lono: How about “Why pay extra for something I don’t use?”
Lowering the price for something I don’t use isn’t a compelling argument for its value to me.
PSN is priced right. Most folks claiming Xbox Live has so many more features are attributing features that ARE NOT Xbox Live to Xbox Live, just like those same lack of features on the PS3 are attributed to PSN. It’s the dashboard and XMB that don’t have feature-parity.
Sure, I’d prefer to pay $35 for 13 months over $50, but sadly your Buy.com deal isn’t the same as the deal everyone else gets (or got)…

@rothbart: Why would you pay for something that you don’t use?

I have to disagree with Pacman on R-type Command. I got the demo on my psp because I had Super R-type and had a ton of fun with it. I think some of your comments were more against tactical RPGs in general then the game itself. For one the Fog of War is part of many strategy games (warcraft to name one). As for the ammo comment that is also part of it being a tactical RPG (fire emblem has a simlar system, except with swords and spells instead of lasers and missles). As for the loading times, yes they are longer than I would like, but you can turn them on, off, or random. Overall I thought it was a pretty good game.
P.S Farenheit rules!

@Lono: Because I was convinced by “the masses” that it was really needed to get enjoyment out of my 360… and I paid for a whole year… shortly after, I realized… hey, I’m not using this. To top it off, I bought the Live Vision pack to get the camera too… what an absolute waste of money. The camera’s hardly used in anything… Totemball… LOL!
I see Viva Pinata 2 will use it Eye of Judgment style… if only I played Viva Pinata.
