Sadly, my illusions about the invincibility of the HUGE tugboat in GTA 4 have been shattered. According to the SG User Blog by Painkilla05, the vessel can and will be destroyed by the Liberty City Poe-Poe, if hit with enough of their Tugboat-piercing rounds.
Here’s what Painkilla had to say:
So I’ve been on the Tug Doc found quite a few times before I heard the humpday but never once did I think it was drivable. So I thought it was the perfect vehicle to get the 6 star for 5 minutes achievement! So I camped out under a bridge and shot at cops until I got to 6 stars and I figured I’d drive my tug out to sea to wait it out. Of course I saw I had about 5 police boats laying down some constant fire on the Tug but I thought I was invincible! But alas I was not! I soon exploded. Oh well, now I know not to leave the security of the bridge.
The mistake that Painkilla made was taking to the open sea. That was a river tug, and not meant for the harsh Atlantic waters. I maintain that while in its home waters, the Tugboat remains the most formiddable and viable vehicle in which to survive for 5 minutes with 6 stars.

To find the giant tugboat head along the river that divides the airport island from its neighbor Algonquin. The tug is situated on the north side of the third bridge from the top of the map, amongst numerous barges.

For the Easy 6 star 5 min points goto the hospital and camp out in the corner near the main entrance
Cops can’t shoot you and you can shoot the cops out of the choppers when they come-a-callin

Yea, I went for a drive with it right after I listened to the humpday update. It’s unfortunate that there isn’t smoke or any indication that it’s taking damage.

Poor Tuggy. Rossell Crowe’s Fightin Roun the World needs a new sidekick.
FYI, For the 1 Man Army (6stars for 5 min). Just go to the bridge that goes to Governors Island (second one up from south, west of Roman’s apt).
When you get to the bridge there’s a police blockade.. if you walk across the blockade (6 stars immediately) and hope off the bridge onto the underbridge (subway bridge).. then run around the subways for 5 min (or just camp out somewhere walk away and get a drink). Someone posted it on youtube, it’s very easy (no shots fired by you or them).

Its the fastest and more dangerous 1mph cop chase of GTA4.
I have an idea DOC…use the copter to push the tug onto land somewhere along the beach and put it onto a truck. then drive it to the pay n spray AND GET FLAMES ON IT!

An easier way to get the 5 Star achievement is to just spawn a jet boat with cheats and drive around the island, the helicopters cant catch up to you.
