N-Gage – It just won’t stay dead!

Poor sales didn’t kill it. The Nintendo DS and Sony PSP didn’t kill it. The fact most people don’t even know what N-Gage is didn’t kill it. The fact that it just may be Swedish, didn’t kill it. It seems that until hell has officially frozen over, Nokia will keep trying to make the N-Gage a success. Good luck with that!

Find out what new title Nokia is bringing to the N-Gage service after the jump!

Just when N-Gage jokes were starting to get old, Nokia throws us some more ammunition. After re-launching the N-Gage service last year, as software compatible with Nokia’s newer phones instead of a dedicated piece of gaming hardware, not much has happened. At least nothing the gaming community has really taken notice of.

Yesterday Nokia announced that Konami would begin adding some of its mobile games to the N-Gage’s roster. The first game to make the leap will be Metal Gear Solid Mobile, which was the winner of the 2007 International Mobile Gaming Award. The title is expected to arrive in June, hopefully around the same time as MGS4 hits the PS3. No confirmation on how much MGSM will cost, but Nokia did say when they launched the service that full games could be downloaded for $8-$14.

Does anyone care? With the DS still selling like hotcakes and the PSP holding steady (with Skype no less), I just don’t see how any amount of great titles can make the N-Gage service a success. I can see the next generation of portable gaming consoles having full (or near enough) phone capabilities.

Hmmm…Metal Gear Solid Mobile on a N-Gage enabled Nokia phone or Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops on the PSP (which can also make phone calls)? Wow, tough one.
