XBLA titles that MAY be removed…

By now, many of you have heard about the 360 Spring Dashboard ‘update’ that provides nothing but infrastructure changes, a new DRM (download right management) policy and the removal of several arcade games. Our good friends over at mygen.com.au have complied a list of all the arcade games that could be deleted, according to the Microsoft criteria. Find out all the details after the break.

Recently Microsoft announced that in the Spring Dashboard ‘update’ they would be removing a number of arcade games from the service, forever. In order to meet the requirements for deletion, the arcade game in question must meet these criteria:

1. Must have available to buy for at least 6 months

2. Must have a Metacritic average of less than 65%

3. A conversion rate (the number of people who buy the game after downloading the trial version) of less than 6%

The conversion rate data is not available publicly, so the list is based of the first two criteria. Here it is in all its glory:

Crystal Quest
Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe
Hardwood Hearts
Texas Hold ‘em
Fatal Fury Special
Contra
Marathon: Durandal
Missile Command
Time Pilot
Track & Field
Hardwood Backgammon
Hardwood Spades
Pac-Man
Frogger
Mad Tracks
Root Beer Tapper
Super Contra
Geon: Emotions
Soltrio Solitaire
Arkadian Warriors
TiQal
Rush’n Attack
Defender
Double Dragon
Xevious
Gyruss
Asteroids / Asteroids Deluxe
Battlestar Galactica
Centipede & Millipede
Spyglass Board Games
Tetris Splash
Ecco the Dolphin
Yie Ar Kung-Fu
Wing Commander Arena
Novadrome
Shrek-N-Roll
Scramble
Tempest
Street Trace: NYC
Word Puzzle
New Rally-X
Cyberball 2072
Screwjumper!
Bomberman: Act Zero

I’m not quite sure why Bomberman: Act Zero is there since it’s not an arcade game and is TiQual really 6 months old? Anyway that’s the list. Personally I’m not sad to see any of those going, but are there any games there that you don’t think should be removed? The comment box is waiting for you.

I would be surprised if the Contra games have a conversion rate lower than 6%

Little surprised about Texas Hold’Em, I’ve not played it much recently but I went through a spell of being obsessed with it.

Can understand Speedball though, I was all over it on the Mega Drive but it’s aged horrendously.

In reality they won’t be gone, they will just be moved to a “exclusive” area. You can still download them, if someone on your friend’s list recommends a delisted title you will be able to download it since the server still has the file on it.

Is that not about half of them? :\

Why on earth would they remove them? Why not just put them in a “Bargain Bin” category??!!

Are some of them not online games too? Im hugely familiar with XBLA.

If these are online Id be complaining for my money back now as their will be no more people joining the community etc.

Stupid if you ask me they should be kept up. Just offer them cheaper to sell them
