The best things in life really are free. Well, maybe not the best things. I mean, I had to pay $60 for my copy of GTA IV. Still, free stuff is pretty sweet. Adage-debunking aside, some vigilant surfing of the Internet has revealed that one of my favorite franchises is getting the “Guitar Hero” treatment. Apparently, Activision is offering PS3 owners of Guitar Hero III the opportunity to download a song from the God of War series for free. Specifics about the song have yet to be revealed, but hearing “free download” always gets me excited.
Want to sweeten the deal Activision? I suggest releasing a few new axes for the Guitar Hero store. Perhaps one made from the skin of a hydra or the skull of a minotaur. Better yet, how about adding Kratos as a downloadable character? Just imagine an epic guitar battle between Kratos and the God of Rock. These are just ideas Activision, but feel free to take them.
While this announcement won’t satiate my lust for god-killing, it will definitely be a nice addition to my set list. I have passed on last few track packs, but I will definitely be downloading this song when it hits the PSN in two weeks. It is nice to see that Activision is continuing to support Guitar Hero III with new content. Harmonix has done a much better job providing DLC for Rock Band, but Activision has gone above and beyond my initial expectations.

wonder what game it will be from probably chains of olympus?
According to Joystiq, the song is called “The End Begins (to Rock).” That message (excluding “to Rock”) appeared at the end of the second game. So, I guess it is from the second game. Though, it could be a completely new song.
The song is the Rock remix of God of War II main title: The End Begins
