The first time I watched the teaser trailer for the new Iron Man game I was excited. Despite my better judgment, I was really looking forward to this game. Sure 90% of all movie tie-in games are as painful to play as the movies are to watch, but this time I really thought Sega and Secret Level were going to defy tradition. Did they? Or did they just put a polish a turd and sell it as something new?
Find out all the details after the jump!
First off, it should be known that I have only played Iron Man on the PS3, though I have heard that the experience is sad no matter which platform your playing it on. This game is as depressing as watching a four year old scrape his knee and cry at the top of his lungs for mommy. It’s depressing because I can see so much potential in this game but it’s blanketed by a thick cloud of suck. The game pulled an abysmal 36 on the PS3 from MetaCritic.
With so many games getting “delayed” in order to make sure the finished copy is up to snuff, Iron Man was literally stillborn thanks to the need to be released alongside the film (which is AWESOME).
If you love mindless repetition and meaningless stories, your in for a real treat. The missions in this game are about as creative and fun as a pre-school art class with no crayons. “Blow up all the reactors!” Lame. What’s that? More orange targets? Super lame. Shooting down group after group of missile-launching annoyances gets old real fast, but at least that objective is clear to the player. Some of the stuff you need to do is not explained well at all, so expect to cruise around blindly for a nice chunk of time. If you love re-spawning enemies and wandering around (there are no checkpoints), look no further.
The controls are decent, but not great. Sure you can shunt power from your suit to a number of functions, but it comes off more than a little pointless since your going to get pounded on regardless of what you do. You’d think that if anyone could use technology to improve their aim it would be Iron Man, but since Stark only likes to shoot at what is closest to his target reticule, get ready to get hammered by hordes of baddies while you shoot at the least important target against your will. I hear aiming is a bit better on PC, big surprise there.

I disagree, the game was good, for a rent, if you expected another Superman, this game is good by comparison.
I liked the One MAn Army missions, take random Iron Man Suits and kill as many enemies as you can, good for two days on a five dollar rent.
Just don’t buy it.

Chronicles of Riddick was the best movie game I ever played. I’m hard on this game because I was REALLY looking forward to it. I feel like someone gave me a lawn mower for my birthday.
This one was just too chaotic and unfinished. WTH is with the cutscenes that have you looking down Virginia ‘Pepper’ Potts’ blouse? And when did she get the boob job?
Hulk can’t get here fast enough.

There have been many great movie tie-ins, my favs being the harry potter games 1,2, and 5, (3 and 4 didnt have free roam as far as i remember)
I loved those games and I considered it a little better than the movies.
