I’m guessing that it’s because of the release of GTA IV, but there seems to be little-to-no news out there on the internet. So here we go, another Grand Theft Auto IV piece.
It’s my understanding that many of you out there are having problems with the game, especially when I was flamed for saying the game was worth the 10’s it was getting across the board. So, I’d like to see the community’s experience with the issue. Reply in a comment with one of the following lines, and any other comments you might want to make.
Question: Are you having a problem with your GTA IV?
- Yes, on the Xbox 360
- Yes, on the 60g PS3
- Yes, on a non-60g PS3
- No, on the Xbox 360
- No, on the 60g PS3
- No, on a non-60g PS3

Very extreme problem i had, my PS3 actually died on me. And to take the piss, GTA is stuck in there too. I bought my (60gb) PS3 on launch so im one month out of warranty, but sony actually allowed me, they offered an exchange for next week for free, which is just excellent. However they said they will take 4 bloody weeks to get GTA4 out, so meh i bought a temporary copy again. And when this new/refurbished PS3 arrives im looking to extend the warranty on that. Right now, im bored as hell, and just lingering on msn looking at all my mates and clan members playing the game, some have also experianced crashes. But at least they get to run over people. Anyway im still chuffed at how sony are actually exchanging my ps3 for free outside of waranty.

One locked up loading screen on 20GB Xbox. Eject and re-load of game fixed it

Looks like the 360 is the least likely to crash. I’ve had no problems myself and it seems very suspect that none of the reviews mention it… Maybe the review builds just ran smoother, who knows

No problems on the Xbox, though I’ve only gotten to play it for about 4 hours since it arrived on Tuesday morning.

@IncredibleBulk9: Every website is doing the same things. You’ll notice plenty of multiplayer guides out there for GTA, but yours truly was one of the first ;).
In any case, Joystiq’s community doesn’t reflect ours, I’d rather see what the Sarcastic Gamers have to say about any issue.

Yes, on the 60g PS3.
A freezeup nearly every time I drive into what is essentially Times Sqaure.

No freezeups on a refurbished PS3 60GB. It has been completely awesome.

Yep, on my 360. Only the once, but I got an “Unreadable disc” error message three times in one sitting, but that’s down to Microsoft’s cheap hardware rather than Rockstar.

I don’t know if I’ve personally had a problem with my console because I think it is just GTA’s LIVE messing up, but for some reason, whenever I try to join co-op, it boots me out or kicks me back to the open city…But as for crashes and rebooting…no…(Xbox 360)

No, on the Xbox 360
No freezing, but I was a little concerned the first time I turned it on. I wouldn’t let me hit ‘A’ to start the game… I quickly realized that I had a guitar plugged in that was registering as Player1, and I think that’s a first. It required my controller to be in 1st slot at game start (I had to reboot the game to play), unlike other games where they register the first controller to interact as P1.

When I first put it in to my 3rd Xbox360 (that crashed with COD4, and earlier with GOW) it studdered, and the disc wouldn’t read. Then I powered off/on and it works.
The game seems legit, it seems to studder a lot looking like a claymation movie, and the lack of antialiasing is painful. I love the game though, BUT I HATE HOW THE DOOD WALKS UP and DOWN on Stairs. Looks like he has rubber feet.

I had multiple problems:
1. start. I COULN”T EVEN START THE **** GAME!!! back to the shop, new copy, and yes! it worked!!
2. had to restart twice because it froze.
3. 4 times in a row it froze, but after a half a minute it just went on (and froze again, etc. etc.)
I have a ps3 60Gb. Never thought I would say this, but I think I’m gonna get the Xbox. This sucks…

Yes on a 360 with the Zephyr chipset.
No on a 360 with the Falcon chipset.
Think that has something to do with it like bully did? Heard it had a lot of problems on the Zephyr chips since they only tested it on the newest Falcons.
