That headline is about as ridiculous as the claims Glenn is making, and allowing his guests to make on his show lately.
A few months ago I had the privilege of attending an awards ceremony for the Children’s Miracle Network in Florida. We were all quite excited, as Glenn Beck was hosting. I walked away from that evening feeling pretty awesome, and thoroughly enjoyed Glenn’s “performance”. I say performance because on stage he actually seemed like he had a clue. I bought it all. What a smart man.
Lately, his television show has revealed him to be nothing more than another opportunistic fool, trying to cash in on conservative values and older America’s total lack of comprehension of the emerging entertainment medium of video games. Also, he called me an idiot. (Not directly but generally)
Now he’s parading “Experts” onto his show to make outrageous, baseless, and irresponsible claims regarding GTA4. One buffoon went so far as to assert that GTA had RAPE in it. F&%KING RAPE! Are you kidding me? Where?
Meanwhile, Glenn (in his best possible Nancy Grace impression) sits there nodding along and resisting the urge to yell AMEN! This guy’s lost it. He’s gone so far over the crazy cliff in his crusade against video games that the facts don’t even matter any more.
What scares me the most about this is that I’ve watched his show and been pretty worked up over some of the things he’s talked about.
I wonder how many of THOSE crusades were based on things that Glenn just made up to suit his argument.
Where’s the outrage over movies Glenn? Where’s the balanced side of things? Where’s someone who actually knows SOMETHING about video games to counter the silliness that you’ve been concocting?
GTA4 IS a violent and vulgar video game. It is NOT for children and is not being marketed to them. It is a game for adults. Just like movies that carry an R rating and have restrictions on who can watch them, so to does this game. This game that just happens to be the best selling title in history, and for good reason. It’s simply a landmark in entertainment.
It’s selling a LOT better than your latest book… Maybe I’ll head over to Amazon and leave a review based on whatever I make up. I mean facts don’t matter do they Glenn?
Yep… Sure would be a shame if a bunch of gamers went in and assailed your book’s reputation with things that were untrue and based on fabrication.
I mean someone could leave a review that said your book describes how to pull off a RAPE. Boy would that be unfortunate if someone left reviews like that.

Update: Apparently I am not the only one wondering where Glenn gets some of his information. From the reviews of his book on Amazon:
The main problem is that this book is full of facts and figures, and many of them are unreferenced. For example, on page 7 the author writes that the increase in the amount of coal that China will burn will send as much CO2 into the atmosphere as 3 billion Ford Expeditions driven 15,000 miles a year.
And…
The lack of an index and bibliography and not taking the time to determine the sex of The Governor of our Great Evergreen State of Washington (see page 151) indicates that this work was slapped together in haste.
Oh and there are numerous GTA4 defenders already at work in there. It’s a pretrty entertaining read even if you don’t want to/ can’t leave a review… Which I don’t condone.

it’s really a shame, because, as an EXPERT on this book, I really think that I should let the naive public know that this book is NOT actually about the problems in America, but rather, how to cause them!
Not only does it teach you how to rape people…
but, as long as he gets enough help from readers of his book, Beck has even devised a method to eat the state of California!

I found the book uninteresting and not unique in any way. And I left a heartfealt review to that effect.

Didn’t this sort of thing happen when a woman who was interviewed on Fox Blatantly lied about Mass Effect’s “Sex Scene”?
I remember going to her book on Amazon and reading all of the “truthful” stuff about her book that gamers wrote…

My fave in his rant is about the god awful chainsaw in the game that you use to cut the cop in half with. Glenn Beck is a total ass monkey. I bet he got finished playing his 360 before he went on the air and got Dead Rising and GTA4 mixed up.
