Who needs to think of a creative title either? When you put this week’s two biggest stories in gaming right in the same article, the blog writes itself.
A new Doom game, and a movie based on killing little girls? Hell. Yes.
The next Doom title was exposed by a help-wanted ad, which id Software posted to request developers. Which brings into question, why even bother purchasing advertisements or hiring a PR guy, when you can have human resources do it all? Perhaps it was a Freudian Slip. The two O’s in Doom could easily be mistaken for a large pair of Times New Roman knockers.
Take 2, however, made their annoucement the good ol’ fashion way: propoganda press release. Universal Pictures picked up the rights, and sounds serious about putting it into production. The most important details you need to know in three fast bulletpoints:
- Pirates of the Carribean director may direct/produce.
- Gladiator writer may create screenplay
- Take 2 knows how to kiss its own ass
Our ability to attract a major studio and unparalleled creative team speaks volumes about the strength of our BioShock franchise.
This one comes straight off Gamespot’s cutting room floor:
Considered to be one the finest games in the history of interactive entertainment, BioShock unfolds as a deep and exciting adventure.
Look for these both in a few years. If I had to predict, the Doom 4 game would come out first. Unless, of course, John Carmack finally goes bonkers.
Again.

WTF? it doesnt bother me that the movie or Doom 4 is going to be as bad as 3, but WHY DO A SCREEN PLAY FOR SOMETHING THAT ALREADY HAS ONE??
why do they see a need to create a story of a story, that is why we love the game, for what it is. not for what a writer wants to change it to. leave it all as it is, just make the movie a 3rd person view.
QUIT RUINING OUR GAMES!

@Mike
I’d see a movie based around the events of bioshock, I thoroughly enjoyed that game.
But if it had the same exact plot it would just be a less engaging version of the game!

For the movie to work, they really need to find a good actor who is not well-known to play the main character. A star in that role would take away from the story.

A bioshock movie made by anyone other than Uwe Bole would almost certainly take place BEFORE everything goes to hell. Well, before and during. The point is it would take place when Rapture was a city and not a series of encounters.

I agree with Lord Butters I, if there was a movie it would make sense for it to fill in a background story, then leaving it wide open for another Bioshock game.
