As some of you know, the demo for The Bourne Conspiracy hit the Xbox Live Marketplace today. Some of you may be wondering if it’s worth your time or the 1.24GB of space it’s going to take up. The short answer is yes.
The long answer, after the jump.
I’m an optimist, so I like to get the bad stuff out of the way first. With the exception of the usual control issues that we all have with games that use a new control scheme, the Bourne Conspiracy demo only really has one problem that I can’t forgive it for: Quicktime Events. Not just regular quicktime events, but the ones where it’s game over if you fail to hit the button in a certain amount of time. Plus, they change them on you, so if you fail to hit X and get shot in the face, the next time it may be Y. Couple this with the excruciatingly long loading times and you really get taken out of the experience.
Besides those two little nitpicks, it seems like the Bourne Conspiracy could be a fine game. Maybe not a blockbuster, but I’ve played $60 titles that were worse than the 3 missions in the demo. The combat is quick and rewarding, with a simple 2-button fighting system that adds A for block and B to perform a cool takedown like you would see in the movies. The game manages to push you along at a fast pace, which keeps the action high, especially in the first mission where you’re given a time limit, while being sniped at from the buildings across the street.
The entire time I was playing the demo, I felt like I was in an action movie, which I’m guessing is what the developers were pushing for. This demo is definitely worth your time to at least try, especially if you’re a fan of the movies or books. Also, it’s completely free of Matt Damon.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Both to you and Xbox Live)
This is my game of the year, and a contender for the game of this decade. And I only played two levels of it!
THANK YOU ANIMATHIAS! Thanks for showing the Bourne Conspiracy some love!
The easy deaths… more realistic.
The gameplay - f**kin sweet.
The cinematics and graphics - brilliant.
I. Love. This. Game. Fact.
When this game comes out, I will be on it as much as people are on GTA IV at the moment.
This is my GTA IV! Viva la Bourne!
And 3 levels!
I have something to look forward to in a couple of weeks. YAY!!!! I’m so happy!
Thank you Animathias! You’ve made me incredibly happy with this news!

@doc
I’m always somewhat happy unless I’m angry.
This has just pushed me into ecstatic!
I can’t explain it. This is right up there in gaming moments with the PS3 and 360 release, buying COD4 on release date, playing Zelda for the first time, and getting my first games console.
I think when I buy the game, that will be in the top three gaming moments for me.
Yes. Wow. “Floored”? Hmm…

Caught me off guard too, Cod. It is a pretty awesome game, seems like they caught the feeling of the Bourne Series perfectly.

The bit with the fight scene and the four snipers on the roof…
One of the best fight scenes I have ever played.
Do you know when this is out on the PSN?

The game is not just exciting it is amazing. If you seening the movies and loved all the fight and chase seens you going to love this game. I played the first to short levels but wow the game looks great too.
When is the game schedule to come out i will pick this up.
If the game stick to what the demo, it would recieve a high rating.

But Resident Evil 4 did the same thing, if you didn’t press the button in the amount of time it was game over plus they switch the buttons on you as well.

Game’s scheduled for release on June 30th in the UK, so I guess a few weeks earlier in the US.
Thanks Ani for the info of the demo. Bring on Bourne! YAY!

@ animathias
the picture is realy misleading, it makes it sound like you hated it and then you praised it
@ COD
calm down, it was good, probably great, but it’s not GOTY
it personaly reminded me of a cross between uncharted and everything or nothing and of course, the bourne movies.

You think that Resident Evil 4 is one of the best games ever…
And I think that The Bourne Conspiracy is one of the best games ever…
We all have our opinions…
And the picture is a little misleading, but I see his point. It’s simple… he likes the game, but wants to play GTA IV more. I’m of a different opinion, but I am one of few…

The picture was just meant to get a chuckle.
As for Resident Evil 4 - I wasn’t a fan. The quicktime events in that game didn’t help any either. I don’t like being forced to restart because I failed to hit a button at a certain time.

My only gripe is the sluggish control response. You try to count on the game to lag behind your rapid button-presses, but sometimes it surprises you and wastes your ability to combo. More often than not, you press a button and the game fails to respond at all and you get your face beat in.
