I love Rock Band. I don’t play it enough. One of the best, but puzzling things about the game is the constant DLC that EA brings out to support the game. Some may disagree, but having new songs to download every week keeps the game fresh, for me personally, and extends the life of the game in general. That’s the good, but what keeps me puzzled is the selection of DLC. Why is it that Faith No More’s only DLC is “We Care A Lot?” When are we going to get the Who’s “Baba O’Riley?” When are we going to get a Pearl Jam download pack?
I want it all.
Enough with the fringe stuff from our favorite rock bands. Bring on the hits. That said, here’s ten songs that I want in Rock Band and I want it NOW!
10. Ziggy Stardust by David Bowie
I was introduced to a cover version of this song in Guitar Hero. I’m sure that I had heard the song before playing that game on the PS2, but I absolutely fell in love with the song while playing it in Guitar Hero. After playing it, I went out and bought as much Bowie as I could. Unfortunately, most of his stuff does not approach the greatness of Ziggy Stardust. It’s a great mid-tempo song. I want to sing that song, I want to play the drums on that song. The master track needs to come out for Rock Band.
9. Gentlemen by the Afghan Wigs
This is my indulgence pick. What can I say, I love the Afghan Wigs and Gentlemen is their best song. Great song to sing, play guitar, bass, and drums.
8. Thunderstruck by AC/DC
I know people want “Shook Me All Night Long” or “Back in Black,” but for my money “Thunderstruck” is the most kick ass song by AC/DC. Who wouldn’t want to tackle that guitar riff on expert? Get your Carpal Tunnel Surgeon lined up, cause I wants me some “Thunderstruck!”
7. Midlife Crisis by Faith No More
Enough with “We Care A Lot” bull crap. Bring on the Faith No More hits and believe me, there’s more than just Epic. They’ve been around a long time and have made some really great songs. It’s less of a sing song, but the drums on it are great.
6. Sober by Tool
When are we going to get some Tool? Nuff said.

I give you props for putting Pearl Jam on the list. Everytime someone tells me I should get Rock Band, I tell them that I’ll do it when it gets some Pearl Jam. I think Even Flow and Given to Fly would be two other great songs to play.

Hell yes for a Tool pack, man. On Rock Band OR GH3, most of their tracks have ridiculous guitar riffs that’d be hella fun to play along with. And who doesn’t want to TRY to sing like Maynard Keenan? Nobody, that’s who!

Good list, especially the top 5. Though I’d ask for a diff Green Day song, as American Idiot would difficult vocals. I have a hard enough time singing Timmy and TLotU… and of course the Ramones song.. I don’t need another phoneme (?) heavy song to butcher.
I’d also add some of The Offspring (The Kids aren’t Alright ..?) and that Muse track list that somehow made it on the wrong rhythm game… along w/ the promised (to EU and US later) Muse song, Hysteria.

i cant play rock band/ guitar hero, but i can play most of these songs on the guitar. you know, the real thing. Six strings, twenty odd frets. Ring any bells?

Hey lono that list kinda sucked. Green Day’s American Idiot, are you fracking serious. The White Stripes are awful, you might as well put Kiss in there. Ziggy was a good pick, definately Tool, I don’t know who the Afgan wigs are but that probably means they are good. One song by AC/DC would be enough since they all sound the same. Crazy Train would be perfect. Poisen is GAAAAAAAAY. My picks you ask? Slayer, probably Hollowed Point, or Seasons in the Abyss, or Spirit in Black, NOFX would be great, The Idiots are Taking Over, or Wolves in Wolves Clothing, or Nubs. How about “Left Rustle” by Fireside? It’s a good track, but it would be absolutely nuts in Rock Band! Poor guitarrist (just not in the way you think)
Type O Negative’s My Girlfriend’s Girlfriend and Spoonman by Soundgarden would be cool also and why not “By the Grace of God” by The Hellacopters?
“Jesus Crysler Drives a Dodge” by The Screaming Blue Messiahs makes my list just because of the name…
