We’ve all seen the story about the rumored Xbox Wii-Mote, but nothing has been specifically revealed just yet. However, Microsoft isn’t content to rest on their laurels there. In a surprise announcement this morning, Microsoft revealed the newest peripheral coming to the Xbox 360 this summer, and it’s going to rock the way you play your games.
Take the jump for the full announcement.
That’s right, Microsoft’s newest peripheral for the Xbox 360 is the Rock. Featuring full motion control, zero face buttons (besides the Guide Button, of course), and realistic rumble, the Rock is going to change the way we think about and play our games.
A Microsoft representative had this to say about their new product: “I’m really excited to see where the Rock goes and what developers do with it. Never before has there been such a lifelike peripheral for a system. With the Rock, you can actually feel that ball hit you when you’re playing dodgeball, or feel the weight of the grenade in your hand in Halo 3.”
You can look forward to getting your hands on the Rock this summer. The first game to support it will ship along side it, and will be called Halo: Dodgeball Edition. I can’t wait.

Are you sure it isnt realistic rubble? not realistic rumble…
Of course, the Rock is only currently made in a “giant” model, as Microsoft feels that these larger-than-life gamers are an “untapped niche”.
Unfortunately, there are no plans to release a version for “normal-sized” gamers anytime soon.
Following the success of the original Xbox controllers, of course.
This article reminded me so much of when my friend’s hard drive broke and wasn’t making proper contact so I kept telling him to buy an xbox brick so it would be pushed down harder
Apparently that’s not what they’re meant for.. Damn
Hey, I for one loved the original Xbox controllers.
