Looks like I wasn’t the only person that had a total clusterfuck of a time getting into the Online Beta for MGS4. According to the latest reports from Konami, they’ve readjusted their Beta to begin on Friday Night, or early Saturday morning, depending on your timezone due to the server-crunching overload.

Here’s the info, straight from the Konami press release:
“ We would like to thank all players for their keen interest in taking part in the beta test. However, we regret to inform you that due to extraordinary levels of traffic from all around the globe, we have been unable to run the service to the level we expected.
As a temporary measure, we will be deferring the European public beta test and start it once we stabilize our server. We would like to apologize for all inconveniences as well as confusion caused.
We would like to add that due to the above reasons, we will be making the following changes to the schedule:
1) Start date: Planned for 04/25/2008 24:00(PDT). While the start is planned for the weekend, it may change due to unforseen circumstances.
3) Beta Test closure: This will now be on 05/11/2008 at 24:00(PDT) rather than 05/05/2008 at 24:00(PDT)”
Is it me, or did that just say that the European Beta has been postponed, or deferred indefinitely and that the US Beta would start on 4/25/08? I hope not, for our European readers.

Did anyone else think it was a little weird that beta is suppose to going on during the launch of GTAIV?
If they dont get it out before GTAIV then no one will play it. Everyone will be playing that. Personally i think the beta being before GTA IV is great, just gives me something fun to play while I wait for GTA.
I can’t help but wonder if the thinking was delay it til the release of GTA4, everyone will be busy with that and they can get a trouble free beta.
With the new dates I’m not sure if I’ll get to play it at all. Already got to try and fit some GTA around exams.
I was up for 10Hours waiting for the ßeta, until word came that it was delayed…. Anger, Sadness, despair…….
Oh well. By the looks of it, I won’t be playing GTA IV until May 11th, as a Limited MGO ß > GTA IV which I can play when ever. ;p
Lono, I have a feeling that this is the Japanese being crazy with timezones, and the beta is launching on the 26th at midnight – midnight being 0:00, or 24:00 on Friday. Why would they use 24:00 as midnight? Dey bein’ crazy.
sad, but what do you expect when 9 bazillion people try to register for the same beta all at the same time. its a beta, get over it, and be patient i wont get to play it until i get my ps3 back in may, and ill miss gta 4. SOMEBODY PITY ME…. NOW GODDAMNIT!!!

Didn’t happen with the Call of Duty 4 Beta and almost everyone got into that.
