We’re all excited for Grand Theft Auto 4. Admit it, I know you are. Even if you’re not a fan of the series, you can’t deny that at least some aspect of the 4th installment has piqued your interest.
Did you hear that GTA IV has 16 player multiplayer modes? No, well then you came to the right place, because this is your one stop repository for everything you need to know about Rockstar’s multiplayer offerings. Click the jump for our guide to the mayhem!
With the exception of story details, quite a bit about Grand Theft Auto 4 has been leaked through previews, reviews, and some illegal downloads currently floating out there on the interwebs. A good bit of this information comes from OXM’s early review of the game, which some people are doubting the validity of. Personally, the score the game gets matters about as much as a Wii-mote to a chimpanzee. If even half the stuff they wrote about in the review is true, this game is going to be bigger than any Grand Theft Auto, or open-world game before it.
From downloading ring tones from the game’s internet, or the guy you just shot in the car going limp and hitting the gas to mow you down, this article could go on for 10 pages if I start talking about all the different details Rockstar has crammed into this title. Fortunately for you, I don’t have that kind of time. I want to take a look at the newest addition to the console GTA series: multiplayer.
Here’s what we know
Many people out there are worried that the multiplayer portion of the game is going to be tacked on, especially after hearing that it’s going to be a full-fledged 16 player deal, with 15 game modes to mess around with. For most games, having such an in-depth single player and multiplayer, is a recipe for mediocrity. Just take a look at The Darkness, or Kane & Lynch. GTA IV appears to be different. It looks like Rockstar has been paying attention to games like Crackdown and Saint’s Row while they’ve been polishing their baby, though.
You’ve stuck with me so far, so let’s reward you for your tenacity. In GTA IV, doing stuff is as easy as opening a menu and selecting the option. In the article, it’s as easy as clicking next page.

I’m not excited for this game at all……maybe its because I don’t have a 360/PS3, but neither are my friends and they have 360’s/PS3’s..

@ Rothbart: Maybe they are, but most of them aren’t allowed to get it. Although, I know one of my friends who wants to play it but can’t get it, so he’s going to his friends house on Friday and they’re gonna play it from 2:30 PM to 4:00 AM lol.
