Who would have believed the difference a week can make. Monday, we were asking you to reach out to major websites and get them involved in your boycott of Bad Company. Today, we’re looking back at a groundbreaking effort that brought change to both a game, and the way that smaller sites are viewed when dealing with major corporations. During the boycott, Joystiq’s Justin McElroy made a few remarks that left several of us sort of scratching our heads. Lono had a minor stroke.
Today, Justin joins us to set the record straight, defend his remarks, and share some insight on how your boycott effort appeared to the larger sites. While we might not have totally agreed with Justin’s opinion, we found a lot of common ground.
Thanks for responding to our request and for being on the show.

Is there going to be a podcast on Monday still?
Nope, we’re too lazy for that.
This IS Monday’s show. We made Dave push it out faster because of the recent events.
Good show. I love how you guys kept saying “Superstah”, lol. Also the end was a little out there but you know, it’s SG.
if it wasn’t out there…. it wouldn’t be us.. heh
Really, really great show guys. Joystiq’s Justin McElroy? On OUR Podcast?! Awesome!
Dave, your “take us out” endings have reached epic levels of hilarity.
Congrats guys
Yeah Dave you did it right this time.
Awesome show guys.
This is off topic, but can i please know Lono’s & Dave’s PSN ID.
Hey Doc its time for you to get a PS3 as well !
Thanks
Great podcast guys. Awesome ending Dave.
you can get that info regarding our PSN ID’s in the forums.
Great podcast, I was surprised you had someone from Joystiq on it. Very funny stuff. Seems like SG is getting more known little by little…

At the Nine Minute mark, I almost shut it off. Do you act like a horse’s a$$ when you are wrong? I do not.
You let Justin off easy, way too easy. You never mentioned Kotaku’s editoral (I don’t remember hearing about it).
WTF?
“SHAMELESS PLUG: VISIT JOYSTIQ or subscribe to the JOYSTIQ PODCAST”
NO. I left Joystiq and Kotaku in the dust this week. I have no intention of going back. I am glad the boycott worked, and CONGRATULATIONS to the site. I can honestly say that this post has less capitalization than my lost post as well as the summary above. (Private joke @ Lono)
I might be around, you never know…
XBox 360 – One conversation does NOT make it all better…
Sorry you feel that way SidearmS. While we felt strongly about the boycott, that doesn’t mean that others didn’t have other ideas, such as McElroy. Even though he was wrong, he was man enough to come on the show, take some ribbing and give SG props for spearheading the boycott… Honestly, I don’t know what else you want from the guy.
Chrome hounds had two weapons for free on launch date and the they had other weapons that you could buy but they were maybe a month after launch date.
Sidearms – I still wasn’t wrong.
