Jim,
Sarcastic Gamer believes that Destructoid may just be in the best position of all of the “Major” sites to assist us in our effort to stop gaming from sliding down a slippery slope towards modular, over-priced game-making.
As you know, EA has announced that it will sell additional guns for the upcoming installment in the Battlefield franchise, Bad Company. We, and tens of thousands of like-minded individuals, feel that this is nothing more than stripping out content that should already be included in the 60 dollar price tag, and selling it back to fans of the franchise for an additional premium. We also believe that this plan can and will lead to unbalanced play. We further believe that it sets a precedent for even more abusive DLC for fans of all game franchises. We have embarked on a boycott of Battlefield: Bad Company, and despite a lack of support (so far) from most major gaming outlets, have already enveloped thousands of gamers, who too are eager to stop this dangerous trend in its tracks.
Destructoid was quite outspoken about its disdain for the Gamespot situation, and has never seemed like a group to back down from a fight. That is why we feel that Dtoid is in the best position of all to take this from an underground effort, to a semi-mainstream movement.
Please, use your loud and obnoxious voice to bring awareness to our campaign, or start one of your own. Publishers need to know that abusive DLC is not a road down which they ought to be turning.
We, a community of concerned gamers, sincerely hope that you will take up this cause as your own.
Oh and while I’ve got you here, the picture of you in the bathtub was a little more than I could take today. I would appreciate a warning of some sort next time.
Sincerely,
Doc

Groovy, baby. Just shot a democratically worded e-mail to the dudes at Joystiq (yeah, I know), Kotaku and Destructoid asking ‘em to step up the plate on the EA nickel n’ diming video game soldiers issue. Obviously, my massive charm and way with words has had an effect. Go me.

Huzzah for Destructoid and hurray for SG for kicking this off. I love Battlefield and regret having to participate but it’s the right thing to do.
