SSBB has just come out and the entire Wii loving world has been whipped into a frenzy. They’re pissed that the characters the game gives you out of the box aren’t enough. They must have the unlockable ones. Now!

So, how do you unlock the goodies? Here’s a quick list of what you must do to get those characters. Be warned… Some of it seems a bit….excessive.

  • SHEIK: To see a girl version of link, use Zelda’s down special move in-game to transform into Sheik.
  • ZERO SUIT SAMUS:If you want to see Samus shed her armor, sadly she has clothes on underneath hold down a shield button then proceed to the next screen. quickly input taunts Up, Down, Up. If you’ve set your taunts to the +Control Pad on your controller, you’ll eventually input the command correctly if you rapidly hammer up and down on the Control Pad.
  • NESS:If the yo-yo is your weapon of choice then you’ll want to be Ness, Play five matches in Brawl, and then beat Ness in a fight, or reflect 10 projectiles, and then beat Ness in a fight, or get Ness to join your party in The Subspace Emissary.
  • MARTH:Feel the need to over compensate by wielding a giant sword? Play 10 matches in Brawl, and then beat Marth in a fight, or finish Classic mode on any difficulty level, and then beat Marth in a fight, or get Marth to join your party in The Subspace Emissary.
  • SNAKE: Finally someone brings the character from an M rated game to the party. Play 15 matches in Brawl on Shadow Moses Island, and then beat Snake in a fight, or play 130 matches in Brawl, and then beat Snake in a fight.
  • LUIGI: How is it the second plummer brother not already unlocked? Oh yeah that’s right, second is another word for loser. Play 22 matches in Brawl, and then beat Luigi in a fight, or beat Classic with no continues, and then beat Luigi in a fight, or get Luigi to join your party in The Subspace Emissary.
  • FALCO:I honestly can’t remember who this guy is. Play 50 matches in Brawl, and then beat Falco in a fight, clear the 100-Man Brawl, and then beat Falco in a fight, or have Falco join your team in The Subspace Emissary.
  • CAPTAIN FALCON: F-Zero representing! Play 70 matches in Brawl, and then beat Captain Falcon in a fight, beat Classic Brawl Mode on the Normal difficulty setting or greater in less than 12 minutes, and then beat Captain Falcon in a fight, or get Captain Falcon to join your party in The Subspace Emissary.
  • LUCARIO:Yay Pokemon! If Pokemon go inside Pokeballs, how can they use them? Play 100 matches in Brawl, and then beat Lucario in a fight, or beat Target Smash!! on all difficulty levels (Playing in either 1 or 2 player mode will satisfy this condition.) and then beat Lucario in a fight, or get Lucario to join your party in The Subspace Emissary.
  • R.O.B.: Finally that old school bot gets some love. Play 160 matches in Brawl, and then beat R.O.B. in a fight or get 250 different trophies, and then beat R.O.B. in a fight, get R.O.B. to join your party in The Subspace Emissary.
  • GANONDORF:Even uglier than before! Play 200 matches in Brawl, and then beat Ganondorf in a fight, or beat Classic mode on Normal difficulty with Zelda or on Hard difficulty with Link, and then beat Ganondorf in a fight.
  • MR. GAME & WATCH: To play as an ink stain, play 250 matches in Brawl, and then beat Mr. Game & Watch in a fight, or clear Target Smash with 30 different characters on any single difficulty level, and then beat Mr. Game & Watch in a fight, or clear Classic mode with all characters, or Have Mr. Game & Watch join your party in The Subspace Emissary.
  • SONIC: He better be worth the trouble. Play 300 matches in Brawl, and then beat Sonic in a fight, or clear Classic Mode with 10 characters, and then beat Sonic in a fight, or beat the Subspace Emissary.
  • JIGGLYPUFF:Honestly, who would pick this thing? Play 350 matches in Brawl, and then beat Jigglypuff in a fight, or beat Classic mode with any character except Ike, and then beat Jigglypuff in a fight, or beat Event Match #20, and then beat Jigglypuff in a fight, or complete the Subspace Emissary and find Kirby in a secret room in a swamp.
  • TOON LINK:They always said two Links is better than one. Play 400 matches in Brawl, and then beat Toon Link in a fight, or beat Classic Mode on Hard difficulty with Link, and then beat Toon Link in a fight.
  • WOLF:If you’re still playing the game after all that you can unlock this bizarro version of Fox! Play 450 matches in Brawl, and then beat Wolf in a fight, or play as Fox in the stage “Iseki” (Ruins), which you can find in the eastern mountainous area, it’s a level with lots of moving platforms and fire shoots often from traps on the ceiling. Part-way through the stage a flat platform will lower you down a huge pit, while being lowered skip the first door you pass, instead enter the second door at the bottom, and then beat Wolf in a fight. If you failed, you can retry this once the Subspace Emissary is completed.

There you have it, I hope you have the time, the game, and the Wii to unlock these character. If you don’t care about any of them, enjoy the game anyway. Good luck playing 450 matches to unlock Wolf.

450 matches is not the only way for Wolf, he is one of the easiest to unlock, it took me less than 15 minutes.

I am pretty sure there is another way to unlock Sonic, I haven’t done all that stuff and I have him.

Its really not hard to get every character, I haven’t played much, but everybody I know has all the characters.

Sorry if this double posts, internet is messed up.

@eternalflame: Not disputing your assertion that you unlocked Wolf in 15 minutes but how did you do so? Thanks.

You know, Nintendo already announced that beating the Subspace Emmisary unlocks ALL the characters, nonetheless. And honestly, if you don’t want to play this awesome single player experience, you deserve to have to play all those matches. DEAL WITH IT!

Thank you SG for nodding your Sarcastic head at Smash Bros! It seems even more ridiculous when you post it, for some odd reason.

Falco is your AI wing member in every starfox game.

common it’s not like you had to remember Tamagon or anybody like that it’s freaking Falco.

You dont unlock all the characters thru adventure mode, just most of them. Damn, I’m typing on my wii right now and it is a pain in the ass.

Sheik is a male Zelda from Ocarina of Time, Zelda had to hide her consciousness or something.
