Turning Point: Fall of Liberty developer Spark Unlimited saw its workforce decimated late last night, when it’s entire Turning Point team suffocated while trying to disprove some of their fiercest critics. The incident began when Spark Unlimited and Codemasters released the game to lukewarm-at-best reception from gamers worldwide. Many in the gaming press called the game a real disappointment. Complete details after the jump.

Earl Treeforest, a surviving member of the team explained what led the developers to such a fate in a statement to authorities.

treeforest.jpg“We were listening to a podcast, and one of the guys on the show was saying some really mean stuff about Turning Point.” Then he said ‘Those guys couldn’t develop-their-way out of a paper bag.’ A bunch of us decided to prove him wrong. (It) took us a few days to find a bag big enough to put the whole team in. We drew straws to see who got to get in and who had to stay outside the bag and close it and take pictures and stuff. That was me.”

Treeforest went on to explain that by the time he realized something was wrong, it was just too late to stop it.

“One of the last things they said to me was that no matter how much they begged and pleaded, that I better not let them out… They said they wanted to do something right for once,” said Treeforest, overcome with emotion. “So when they were screaming that they couldn’t breathe I went to get a stick or something to poke holes in the bag for em. I got side tracked talking to Marge from accounting about how she was bored because there was no money to count, and by the time I got to back to the bag, everything was real quiet in there. I thought maybe they were brainstorming or something, so I didn’t interrupt.”

It wasn’t until about 24 hours later that Treeforest realized something had gone wrong.

“I opened up the top to throw in some sandwiches and Capri-Sun drinks. They were all just laying there. It was so peaceful.”

This is the second tragic accident for the Turning Point team. Last month, a bus overturned claiming the lives of the Codemasters devs assigned to the project.

Memorial services for the Turning Point Team will be held on Wednesday at a drinking establishment where the team originally came up with the idea for another WW2 shooter.
