It’s that time again. Time to go where no other Sarcastic Gamer dares to go. This week has been a disappointing one for those looking forward to Warcraft’s biggest rival, and it also makes my MMO choices for this fall a lot more difficult. Then again, those of us who are in love with Bioshock and World of Warcraft may have something to look forward to.

Yeah, you read that right.

Follow me after the jump for all the juicy details.

Let’s hop right into the most interesting story, the rumors about Take-Two contemplating a Bioshock MMO. The story is found, strangely enough, on the MTV multiplayer site (everything but music), and it states that Take-Two chairman, Strauss Zelnick, revealed the tasty idea at the Smid Cap conference yesterday. He was talking about EA’s merge offer, and put on a slide presentation about “Potential Untapped Oppurtunities.” On slide 24, Bioshock and Civilization showed up under the MMOG column, and gamers everywhere felt a disturbance in the force.

What makes this really appetizing, in my opinion, isn’t that Bioshock may show up on the PC in MMO form, but that it would be the perfect source to break the ice on true console MMO gaming. Even though it’s probably not even in development yet, I think the idea is a very good one. Take-Two could be the first company to bring a non-port MMO to the 360, it would probably hit the PS3 as well, but they’ll have the Agency to compete with by then. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that Take-Two has already thought of the potential and begun work on bringing this idea to fruition.

Let’s head on over to the proposed WoW-Killer, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, and talk about the good and the bad news that hit the internet this week. The good news is that the collector’s edition of the game has been completely revealed. While most collector’s editions usually only come with a “Making-Of” DVD, or some sort of artbook, the MMO ones seem to stand out among the crowd.

Warhammer’s is no different. The collector’s edition will feature a cool little miniature, a hard-cover graphic novel, the aforementioned artbook, a couple neat in-game items, guaranteed access to the open beta and live access to the game early (by pre-order of course), some special quests, and a few other pointers.

Yeah, I’d say that’s better than a cat helmet.

Of course, there’s the bad news. Warhammer Online has officially been delayed to Fall 2008. This isn’t the first time it’s been delayed, but hopefully it will be the last. Of course, I’d rather the game came out bug-free than jump the gun and risk losing early adopters.

Hellgate: London, anyone?

While I’m anticipating the release, this leaves me with two questions. What does this mean for Blizzard’s release of Wrath of the Lich King? Will they release it during the summer to try and get a leg up on Warhammer, or will they hold off until fall and put it in direct competition? My other question is whether I’ll buy this or Stargate: Worlds, which has a tentative release window of Fall ‘08 as well. I guess I answered my own question, Stargate wins the round.

That’s about all I can fit in this week. Keep up the grind!

dont call warhammer online a WoW killer, it wont be.
not only because of maket share, yada yada,
but also because it seems like nothing special/fun.
and i have to bring up the “trailer” for the game. in case you havent seen it, dont waste your time, go stare at a goldfish instead.

I don’t think Blizzard is concerned about the sale of this expansion to people who would be picking up Warhammer. Especially since at least 95% of the people picking Lich King up are already playing WoW. So unless they are afraid of losing subscribers that are Warhammer fans, they will release whenever they want as they have always done.

On a side note I’ll probably be checking out StarGate : Worlds when it is released. My roommate will be checking out Age of Conan when that comes out, not particularly interested in that one though.
