Bully Kicks Its Own Ass

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a fictional bully that didn’t have to fear repercussions? The taking of lunch money and the distribution of swirlies and weggies, sounds like a great way to hide your insecurities. Bully Scholarship Edition isn’t about that, it’s about finding your inner Twisted Sister and not taking it anymore.

Too bad it’s got a few little problems. Okay, they’re kind of huge problems.

Turns out it has launched with some crippling bugs. It has frequently freezes, which makes you lose all the time since your last save. Sounds like just another challenge to get past before you light the disc of fire and then pee on the ashes.

There is also some problems with skipping audio. What’s the point of a game with a storyline if you can’t hear the story? Mass Effect would have been impossible to play if the audio kept dropping. There are also some reported frame rate issues, but those are a little less that the previously mentioned problems.

Rockstar Games, who was apparently caught off guard by these problems, issued this statement:

“We have just become aware of the issues people are having with Bully Scholarship Edition on Xbox 360. It appears that some older 360s are experiencing frame-rate issues, freezes and other problems. You have our word that we never experienced any of this in QA – in any of our offices or at Microsoft. I am horrified, and we are now working around the clock to rectify this situation. Thanks to Neo-Gaf for bringing this matter to our attention. We love our games and put a huge amount of energy and care into making them all that they can be. We would never shove anything out the door – we never have and never will. We apologize to everyone affected for the inconvenience.”

How the hell do you not know that your game freezes and has audio issues when it’s released? You’d think they’d have someone, I don’t know, try it out before they released the game. It sounds crazy, I know.

Maybe they were hoping no one would notice. Sorry Rockstar, we did. Now fix it!

    • They couldn’t tell because they didn’t have any “older xbox 360s” left, all of theirs have died and been replaced… LOL

I guess Rockstar could blame Xbox for change the way the old Xbox works from the new Xbox, but I’m glad they are at least going to do something to fix the problem rather then shifting the blame.

Games are tested with up to date models so this is why it wasnt spotted.

You know Rockstar didn’t port this game in-house, right? They outsourced it to Mad Doc Software. Rants are better when you have your facts in order.

    • ajnokia says:

They did test it on Xbox 360s. They used a different model than the older one this is why it wasnt picked up

I bought the 360 version of Bully the day it came out and since then it only froze on me once. I’ve never had any skipping audio issues but I’ve noticed the load times are a little long and the frame rate is kinda sluggish here & there. It’s still a great game though.

I’m suprised they didn’t say “We’re not EA!” at the end.

They neglected this game for GTA4

You guys are tards. Seriously. Just listened to the podcast and I had to re-establish this point. MAD DOC SOFTWARE PORTED THE GAME, ROCKSTAR DIDN’T. Grow a brain.
