PS3 Left 4 Dead, Seeks out Xbox 360 Exclusively

A bunch of news came out of the Game Developers Conference yesterday.  One piece of info on Valve’s zombie shooter, Left 4 Dead, will leave PS3 owners out in the cold.

To no one’s surprise, Valve will only be releasing it’s Zombie FPS Left 4 Dead on the PC and the Xbox 360 console exclusively. The game pits four survivors against randomly spawning zombie hordes.  Your only goal: Survive. Doc, Dave and I played the Hospital level at Quakecon and as I previously discussed HERE, we loved it. By the way, Doc and I along with two others were the only team all weekend to make it to the end of the level.  We all ended up dying rather cheaply, in my opinion, but that didn’t change my opinion of that stellar game play experience.

Check out my hands-on impressions here.

I absolutely know that Left 4 Dead will be huge.  It just sucks that it probably won’t come out until late August, or early September.  Guess I’m gonna have to break down and pick up Dead Rising in the bargain bin to tide me over until then…

looks pretty cool. I’ll hafta try out the demo when it comes out on the marketplace. it’s really funny that it’s not coming out for the ps3 though. haha

Considering Gabe Newell’s ‘love’ for the PS3, it’s hardly a surprise..

More Zombie killing goodness for us 360 owners!!! Can’t Wait! I would pick up DeadRising but I heard it was a ’system killer’?

I heard about DR bricking 360’s but I never had any problems and I’ve run two different copies of the game (my own & my friend’s disc).

Left 4 Dead reminds me of the Resident Evil: Outbreak games but L4D probably has more ammo & less suckage.

well I loved playing the zombie mod for counter strike source. Guess this is it made into an actual game by valve.

      Sounds like my kinda game

Well i’m not surprised by this announcement, Valve have always hated the PS3 (and so do i for that matter), Valve have commented that they hated putting The Orange Box on PS3, so i was expecting it to happen sooner or later.

      All right!
…But they moved the release date…?

      :(

Valve is off thier rocker. Why exactly do they hate the PS3? Is it too difficult for them? Apparently certain companies (cough* Insomniac) know how to program for it.
Can we just label Valve second party already to microsoft?

Well, NoneOfYourBusiness, perhaps you don’t realize how close Insomniac and Sony are. They get dev kit help before everybody else. It’s like Insom is the little runt in the prison cell, and Sony is ‘Big Blue’. :P

Goddammit, Valve make the best bastard monsters. They’re so sphincter-shrinkingly frightening, I can’t wait to see what they do with traditional-style zombies.
