The DS Crysis

With Mario, Zelda, Pokemon and the rest of the Nintendo crew having such a banner year in 2007 on the DS, Nintendo seemed to be showing no signs of targeting the “hardcore” gaming market. 2008 looked to be no different, given the posted DS line up for the coming year. That was until SG received word of one addition to the DS line-up that brought our entire understanding of the world crashing down;

Nomad was coming to the DS!

That’s right, Nomad; PC gamer’s hero extraordinare from the high spec title Crysis will be coming to the DS this summer. Thanks to DS lead designer Mr. Bobby IStillThinkImNine, we received word of this release before anyone else.

Mr. IStillThinkImNine’s short, but eye opening statement:

“We really wanted to attract the “hardcore” crowd to the DS. We definitely want to expand beyond children and people who think they still are children, and start releasing at least a few games that cater to adults. Given the inherent power of the DS, it was not as hard as you’d think for us to totally gut the awesome graphics Crysis had and turn Nomad into a DS friendly icon. Think Contra on steroids. If you thought DX10 based graphics and uber amounts of alien slayage was fun on the PC, wait until you see how fun it can be using the DS pen!”

The crew at SG was obviously floored. We hope to get our hands on a copy some time around May of this year. Backed by the amazing 256 x 192 resolution and ungodly 4MB of RAM the DS currently uses, Crysis on the DS (the unofficial name for the DS version is “Nomads Adventures on Mystery Island”) looks, well, maybe not looks, but could be one of the biggest DS blockbusters of 2008.
